I don't see any animosity towards Ionescu though and she gets more attention than 99.5% of the league.

I acknowledge that a big part of the animosity is financial in nature, probably accounts for some of the difference in the way those 2 are treated. But there are still a lot of racial undertones and overtones to what is happening across the basketball landscape.

It's a bit bumpy that some players get more attention than others for reasons no one can even out…then raise the stakes by making it about money when all women athletes just now are getting professional opportunities and the revenue is going up if slowly.

With that said: I think putting others in their place is a key dynamic in sports.

This Carter chick seems like a really good person (assuming that stuff is true).

Carter has issues. But "assaults". lol. People are acting like she ended Clark's season. Ive seen worse takedowns in the H-E-B toilet paper aisle during the pandemic.

Caitlin should speak out against this pure evil racism. WNBA is racist.

This topic has brought the politics posters to the WBB board. Speaking like you know jack chit about the sport.

Someone who posts 2/3 the time in the blue star echo chamber of premium ought to really have some great perspective on it though.

I have more perspective on this specific topic than you can ever imagine. That aside, the WNBA is run by a white woman, coached and run by mostly by white women, the reigning MVP is white, and there's a host of other white stars in the league. "100% racism" is the most ridiculous comment possible.

I can accept "professional jealousy", in fact, that's likely what most of this is - a star comes in and is given all the credit for massive ratings boosts, exponential growth in ticket sales, a new charter flight policy, etc, I could see a few of her co-workers thinking "oh, yeah? F her!" and trying to make her life at work difficult.

But to say "it's 100% racism" is something you'd expect from a politics poster. And of course, as soon as I looked, I was like "yup".

I didn't ever claim it was 100% racism and agree a large part is driven by financial greed. I posted as much on this very thread.

I just thought it comical that someone who hangs out on the high school / frat boy premium board for most of 20 years calling out politics posters is such a detachment from reality I couldn't pass up the chance to poke fun at it.

I have spent plenty of time on both of them, going back to 2003 when my only other account was started before getting banned over an email disagreement with moderation that had nothing to do with something I actually posted to the site. (Related to the NBA forum ironically)

Politics board would probably account for 20% of my posts if you combined the 2 and I don't often post there the last couple years because my interest in it has faded. But you go on thinking with your know it all premium mindset.

The funniest part to me is that Carter tried to act all hard and talk **** and then immediately after disabled all comments on her social media.

IIRC, we had at least one player transfer cause they didnt want to play with carter, and several more who were gonna leave if carter didnt go pro early. between her bad attitude and ball hogging, i cant imagine how any team would be desperate enough to want her.

Lighten up Francis. Just pulling the R card like it is every single time if this script is flip. I don't really know if it is because I know nothing about these women. My post was stupid but that was my point. It's stupid when script is flipped.

This is all too funny. We adore an Aggie who used a helmet as a club on a guy, but "lost all respect" for an Aggie who gave a hip-check to a player that just elbowed her in the face?

I just don't understand why people feel the need to white knight for Clark. Is she changing the women's game? YES. Did the 143 other players in the league benefit by her addition to the league? YES. Do they need to bow to her feet and not play her physical? HELL NO.

Carter has a history of being a complete ass.
Garrett has a history of pretty much the exact opposite.

There's a clear difference between a one time regrettable mistake and a history of being a trouble maker/bad apple.

The fact that you can't/won't see the difference is pretty telling.

Typical minority response. Turning it racist. I am now hoping all these freaking racist basketball players and this league takes a nose dive. Hope you'll start flying commercial again. Idiots.

Look, I love MG. Huge fan. I used the comp because it's hilarious we're acting like what Carter did doesn't happen all the time on the basketball court. Someone got bumped aggressively in a game and posters are saying it's 100% racism! People are just out of their minds on the Caitlin Clark stuff.

Clark brought in casual followers to a sport. It has helped the sport immensely - in almost every imaginable way. She is the golden child. Not Angel Reese, who is clearly delusional. But these casual followers can't handle a hard foul on their golden child, Now add to it people that aren't even casual followers. People that their radar is pinged now because it's a debate on their favorite political TV networks just creates a lot more people speaking on a topic they have no clue.

And look, maybe I'm just an old who appreciates The Jordan Rules.

Have you not followed the story? Geez. The narrative is 100% about a white girl getting all the love, while the black player yells racism. Typical 2024

Guess Clark was talking trash which led to the hip check and the "you *****". Clark definitely oversold the contact but still was a stupid reaction by Carter.

I agree with this. Clark also elbowed Chennedy in the face clearing her out on a rebound on the immediate previous possession on the other end of the court. Stupid reaction by Chennedy. But it happens and this was just "over"'intensity and Chennedy had a brief emotional reaction.

Yeah, she had"brief emotional reaction " to the two teams that kicked her off their team, too. She's a thug

I don't think I have watch even 1 quarter of a college woman or WNBA game. Its just unwatchable, sorry that is my opinion. Its like watching paint dry, or cricket.

What is happening to Clark is what women do to each other. It happens all the time, happens in the work place all the time. Add on the chip on the black WNBA player's shoulder and its in hyperdrive.

Go to any workplace. A hot girl or girl that everyone gets along with gets hired and most of the women are already plotting against her. So much different than a guy who is welcomed with open arms by the women coworkers.

Women can care less what a new woman hire can do for the company. She can be the nicest, hardest working hire but they will find something to attack. Guys can care less for the most part other than the new hire carrying their own weight.

Ask anyone in management, happens all the time. Women are insecure and when the new shinny object shows up their own self worth is on the line.

Happens in real life too. A guy says a woman walking by is hot, wife/gf gets defensive. A girl says a guy walking by is hot, the guy can care less.

This is why women for the most part can not have nice things.

I just watched the video of Clark's alleged elbow. It wasn't Clark who landed the elbow from what I saw, it was Carter's own teammate who elbowed her (unintentionally) in the face as Carter grabbed Clark's arm and pulled her back to try to disrupt her from getting the rebound. If Clark's elbow made contact with Carter, it was Carter's own fault.

Mostly a basketball play, but the closest rule violation would have been a common foul on Carter for grabbing Clark's arm. Absolutely ridiculous to try to use that play to justify what Carter did at the other end.
