I think the question we will have to see answered is, are we able to become something other than a points in the paint team? Our outside shooting has been poor; free throws were at 65% last night (15/23), which is better than the game against Georgia (3/7, 43%). We outrebounded Auburn by 14. Points in the paint: 40 points; Free throws: 15 points. That means we only made 5 outside shots (one being a 3 with 2 minutes left in the game). Obviously, we have to continue to go to our strength, but I surely hope our shooters catch fire. Was happy to see Bowles nail a 3, but a few plays later she was wide open for another uncontested 3 in the same spot and shot an air ball. That's concerning.
Lots of positives coming out of this game. There was a sequence in the game where we had 3 or 4 good defensive stops and our 3 guards worked well together and pushed the ball up the court for quick scores. That was exciting! Barker and Ware seemed dialed in. Rogers did Rogers things. Sole....can you give me an Ole for Sole? She's going to end up starting before the end of the year and may end up being one of the better players to come through our program (IMO).
LSU will be a test and I know we will all try to NOT be discouraged, but let's see how we stack up. Gig'em!
