Just a reminder as the TexAgs boards are blowing up on the football side between the portal & sips defeat (pooooor t-sips) that both our Aggie basketball teams begin SEC play this week. t.u. consistently fields Top 10 teams in every sport, not just football: men's & women's basketball, baseball & softball, volleyball, etc. and Ags need to step up for the renewed t.u. rivalry across the board.

Our @AggieWBB team is 12-1 after preseason and looking to start strong at Georgia tomorrow night. Remember that at his time last year our women's team had SEVEN, (yes, count 'em, seven) healthy players due to preseason injuries. It was a struggle all last season just to keep a team on the court certainly not what @CoachJoniTaylor had in mind. This year is completely different - high quality transfers (Ware, Coulibaly, Rogers all starters), plus the recruits that Coach brought with her (Barker, Bowles, Hylton) and veterans from the Gary Blair era (Jones, Green). It's a completely different team and anticipate the winning season we were hoping for last year. Joni Taylor was a superb hire, a proven coach and recruiter and a completely class act. We are fortunate to have her.

So, bring your kids or grandkids to the home SEC opener this Sunday afternoon January 7 against Auburn - tickets for women's basketball games are available & affordable. Soak those future Aggies in the culture at Reed and support our athletes in the maroon & white in all sports.

We are now 12-1. We lost to Purdue by 14. Dawgs beat Purdue by 8. Both games at Purdue.
Sure we can win. Harder on the road. My concern is the relatively weak schedule we have played.
Wins over Cal, WF and KU were good wins, but none are top 50 teams.

Joni said in her presser that it was the right preseason schedule for this team. Looks like we are playing hard
and coming together as a team, and have some depth. So far the D and the rebounding has been good.
Sounds like our O will be challenged with the Dawgs 3-2 zone. Maybe we will get the ball down the court before they can set that up.

Interesting that we are receiving votes in the AP Poll but not in the Coaches Poll.

This is probably our toughest game of the year, maybe with Kansas at home. Really curious to see how we come out. Think without depth, we can tire teams out with pressure and rebounding.

Think if we're going to make a name in the SEC, we're going to need Ware to find another level with her ability to finish. Think she is key.

I think this game and the Auburn game later in this week will really tell us where this team stands and will stand at the end of the season. These are both teams that are around our talent level, when compared to the likes of South Carolina and LSU, so it should be a good test of our scheme.
Does our defense really hold up when playing teams with a pulse?
Can we find ways to consistently score in system?
We will see...I have hope that we can, and Lord knows we are in a better position than this time last year.
Overall, I'd love to see us start taking the right steps forward with this team and program. They did by avoiding any bad loses in non-con and picking up those power 5 wins, but this is where the rubber hits the road.
To finally answer the question yes, I think we can take both of these games, but it might be a rock fight to get there.

This is going to be a good test for us since they play a tough 3-2 zone. I'm interested to see how our half court offense will look. I also need to see our 3-pt % go up since that's a stat over the past few games that has stuck out to me so I won't be surprised if most conference teams play zone against us.

Well I was right about the rock fight part. Frustrating decisions at times for sure and this loss is not great no way around it. We need to find consistent offense (and no help with so many cold shots tonight).

Some good news, defensively we looked pretty good. Georgia is not going to shoot the lights out but we did not lose this game bc of defensive play.

Lots to learn, no illusions that we were going to be a top team this year but still you'd love to have this one back. We will see what Sunday brings.
