Reese has more NIL deals than any other player in college basketball with 17, according to a report from SponsorUnited earlier this week. Her latest partnership is JanSport, the popular backpack company, and it joins deals with McDonald's, Sparkling Ice, Xfinity, Wingstop, Outback Steakhouse and Discord, according to On3, a leading NIL database company. She has a $384,000 NIL valuation, per the site. The starting WNBA rookie salary is around $63,000, with lottery picks making closer to $75K.

Those numbers don't mean anything next to each other. An On3 valuation isn't a deal. Haynes King had an extremely large NIL deal with the A&M related collective (and that had nothing to do with his On3 "valuation").

One of the only players with a legit national NIL capacity in the last decade is Johnny Manziel. Another example is the LSU gymnast because she made herself into a legit social media personality, not because of her gymnastic ability but because of her content creation. In reality, the rest is just what school fans think a player is worth to play there.

LSU's big advantage is Louisiana law allows their head coaches to go meet with a player or recruit and directly make them a $$$ offer. That is illegal for any Texas coach to do. Trial lawyer Gordon McKernan is likely one of the biggest funders of LSU NIL. Mulkey can personally can make a direct offer to a player related to NIL. Now that "fund" looks to be fairly substantial one for WBB. Reese got a great NIL deal from LSU as did Mikaylah Williams (next year's #1 recruit). I understand Williams cancelled her A&M visit after Mulkey delivered the NIL offer to her.

Lets drill down on Reese's NIL deal with McDonald's. Is that actually McDonald's or just some local franchise in Baton Rouge that is part of LSU's collective? I can find nothing in a Google search that shows Reese doing anything with McDonald's. Someone please provide a link if they find something.

For those who can receive direct money from coach it makes it great way to keep them for 4 years
instead f all these early

This is the way. They are simply professional athletes.

I really don't care anymore.

It's a bidding process.

I have totally lost respect for programs and athletes who do not recognize who helped them get there. If it were not for their life long support from many places they would not be there. At least be polite and professional.

In fact, about ready to check it all off. TAMU will never compete at the level Ags expect unless we get tough administrators and compete according to whatever new rules exist. Next the coaches need to perform and coach.

She really does have a great opportunity to be that legit breakout star that isn't just tied to a school's fans for NIL monies. Broad appeal.

The coaches have always been paid. You shoood have never cared about college basketball because of that, then.

Shamateurism is virtue signaling.

And that's pretty much why my interest in college sports is lower than ever. They probably won't miss my eyes on the TV or my butt in a seat, and that's fine.

On3 uses circumstantial info to offer a purely speculative valuation. You should take what they say with an entire salt lick of salt.
