Texas A&M women's basketball signee Chennedy Carter (Mansfield, Texas/Timberview HS) was selected to the 2017 McDonald's All-American Game on Sunday. Carter is the sixth signee in Texas A&M history to be selected to the all-star event, which takes place on March 29 at Chicago's United Center.
Carter, who already was distinguished as the highest-ranked player to sign with Texas A&M out of high school, becomes the program's first McDonald's All-American since 2012, when eventual All-SEC standouts Jordan Jones and Courtney Williams were selected. Adrian McGowen (2006), Tyra White (2007) and Karla Gilbert (2010) were the other Texas A&M signees who have been selected to this game.
Texas A&M All-American Kelsey Bone played in the game in 2009, but did not sign with Texas A&M, transferring to Aggieland after her freshman season.
Carter, the no. 6-ranked recruit in the nation according to espnW HoopGurlz, is averaging nearly 20 points and four-and-a-half assists per game this season, helping Timberview to a No. 2 ranking in the state.
