instead of traditional golf, why not something like foot golf? it's something that could be a lot more open to everyone, it's different, and requires nothing close to the kind of maintenance a more traditional course would.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but keep the kids menu at $5 or below! So many place I've been to charge nearly $10 and it's a slap in the face. Hotdog, grilled cheese, fries, quesadillas and you're good!

Ditch the dog park idea. Grown adults are too ballsy bringing their out of control pets as is and even well behaved dogs don't seem to mesh with the concept.

I think you're mixing too many demographics and when you do that, none show up.

Families with kids? Families with kids don't show up with their dog to go to a dog park. If they are, they aren't there to eat and drink beer.

I think you've got to focus on what is someone actually going to show up and do and focus on that demo. You aren't going to get 5 different demos to be there at the same time.

Someone looking to play a par 3 with their clubs isn't going to show up with their dog, or possibly even their kids. The reason top golf works is because it's basically a bowling alley. You can suck and also never be farther than 5' from a $30 bucket of beers.

Par3 course. Maintaining that in Texas weather is a fools errand if trying to make money. Ain't no one showing up right now in the heat of summer to play some gimmick 9 hole course in the sun. Same thing in winter. This isn't Florida or Southern California.

My advice, go look at every "outdoor/indoor, kid friendly, dog friendly (not dog park), bar/restaurant" in major suburbs and see what they have going on.

These things fail and some are successful and often times it's hard to see the difference. For instance, The Hub in Allen just closed. There was SIGNIFICANT capital put into that thing.

If you can mimic what the Katy Trail Icehouse guys have done, you've got a winner but that place has built a brand reputation and following. I'd say they're winning because they know how to decorate, landscape, and make somewhere feel like the coolest Texas backyard that makes you want to drink ice cold schooners of beer for $15 in existence. Basic food menu with some damn good burgers. Enough TVs where you'll sit and watch a game or whatever for a few hours and rack up a $100 bar tab.

The only money making piece to these ventures is booze. Period. How do you get people to buy more booze?

I play plenty of golf and do not think dogs mix well with golf. Actually, having dogs would prevent me from ever showing up and I would be your main repeat customer demographic. TBH, you are just burning $$$$.

All the dog venues in my area have closed. It's a neat novelty visit, but for regular visits, it's never worth the overpriced, underwhelming food and drinks. Plus, there was always one dog causing problems, adding stress to what should have been a relaxing time.

Part of what I enjoy about golf is a bit of tranquility - the surroundings, not my game.

A party-golf atmosphere is attractive to some, but I think those will be occasional players, not regulars.

I would also be concerned about liability costs - dogs, drunks, and kids' playgrounds sound like quite a recipe. I wouldn't invest, but I would like to be the person taking commission on your insurance policy.

All that said, every great idea out there had 100 times the naysayers as supporters. I hope it's wildly successful and that you serve me crow regularly. I love a good success story.

Yeah when I first saw the initial pictures and e-brochure at the top of this thread I thought wow OP is really going for it. Then I looked at them closer and the verbiage in them and realized it is all AI slop.

I don't think he's gonna give up on the dog idea easily

When you look at the layout flyer… the hole yardages really throws you for a loop relative to the parking lot and dog park.
