How long do you want to ignore this user?
My brother who lives in Rockdale TX just married a few years ago and they have accumulated nothing together but some weird stuff going on with soon to be ex-wife.

No suggestion for actual attorneys in that area but it is absolutely imperative that you drill it into his head that he needs an attorney and not to just "sign whatever this paralegal she had draft up so it's cheap and easy".

Kids involved? Or just them?

Legally, he should be fine since everything he has accumulated was prior to marriage that being said I'm not a lawyer

Yeah, I'm sure she didn't accumulate mountains of debt behind his back to fund her cocaine and online shopping habit or forge any documents in his name or anything like that.

That would be a totally unreasonable thing for a person to do.

ETA: You severely underestimate how entertaining and fascinating family law can be. I avoid it like the plague.

NO KIDS they only been married for 2 years, his wife passed several years ago and he remarried. She lays around doing nothing and quit her job a year ago. She leaves for weeks at a time with hum not knowing where she is. They have not bought anything together except for a used Toyota he uses to travel back and forth to work. He is 67 years old and plans to work another 5 years to get fully vested with State of Texas job. He owns a house, which he he owned and paid for before his previous wife passed. So i dont think his current wife and him have purchased much of anything together.

I would look into an estate planning attorney as well to protect his assets and make sure she hasn't done any funny business with deed records or any other personal or real property. Get some solid POA, medical POA and what not so if he's incapacitated in any way she isn't the one that is going to be deferred to. Figure out if she weaseled her way onto his bank accounts....this can go so many different directions.

Never underestimate crazy. In the unfortunate event something were to happen to him before he can finalize this divorce, you don't want this chick involved in your life any more than he does.

Good luck man. Seen this situation too many times.

OK she isn't young either. So I am surprised at her behavior, she should be thinking about keeping her man. Oh well.

Umm, no advice on the attorney, but would recommend that your brother never eat any food she prepared or drink any beverage he didn't make himself.

I've used Rockdale attorneys Kirby King, Jenny Gebhart, and Michelle Lehmkuhl for various things through the years for myself of things I've been involved in personal and professionally and found them all competent.

Jenny is an Aggie
Kirby's stepson was a BQ class of 07
Michelle did my divorce and was sufficient

Take this info for what it's worth. This doesn't seem like a complex case unless I'm missing something

My concern would be if she has any angle to get part of the pension, or at least some claim to the value it increased by during the 2 years. But that depends on the plan, Texas law, etc.

I've seen this movie before in my extended family. Older man remarries to someone 15 years younger. Gold digger. Manipulator. Do-nothing. Doesn't play out well.

Good that he's only into this for a couple years or so. Get a good attorney and run away from this like the plague.

He'll be much better off than if he stayed put. These leeches increase their influence and power as time passes.
