Any suggestions for credit card processing and in shop terminal set up in Houston or College Station? Looking for reasonable fees and website payment gateway/e-commerce as well. Need a live local person vs a large faceless entity.

godaddy is the cheapest, but a live local person I have no idea, why would you need that for a cc terminal?

My fees average around three percent of sales with Vantiv. If you find better please post the processors name.

A live local person is a salesman which could be good for learning. But you will pay more. Don't sign anything that locks you in. Buy your own terminal if you are doing stand alone as opposed to point of sale software. As soon as you understand dump the person and shop price. If you do many transactions make sure to upgrade your internet connection.

I could try and beat your rate if you want to shop. I can set either IC+ or Flat rate depending on your preference. I am an ISV so not in the sales but am still able to write rates.

Have you checked out Square?

Not sure how much you are doing, but they have a wifi terminal or you can collect payments with a swipe attachment on your phone. That is what we used for a school fundraiser.

For work we take CC about 3-4 times per year and Intuit Merchant Services also will process it.
I think they are 3.9% but not sure.

I work with Heartland Payment Systems, which is one of the handful of direct processors in the country. Not a reseller. Im not in CS/Houston, I'm in DFW, but we have people locally I can get you setup with. I can get you setup with anything you need to run payments securely, but keep your rates as low as possible, whether you want to do a cost+ model, flat rate or surcharge/cash discounting. We have physical and virtual terminals which will cut down on your CNP (card not present) fees if you take payments over the phone.

John dot Peddy at heartland dot us

Also, fyi, there's been a lot of talk about legislation to cap interchange rates (which is the cost of the card due to visa/mc/amex. Sounds great in theory, but those on flat rates are going to get hosed.

Regardless, drop me a line and I can at least give you the things to look out for and ask while shopping
