How is your business doing in 2024? Higher revenue, less revenue? Effects of the economy you are seeing? We've seen revenue go down compared to previous years. Can only guess it's from everyone just being tighter with their money right now.

If you don't mind sharing what industry are you in? Or at least sector. I ask because I think this could vary wildly by sector.

Manufacturer of upstream O&G equipment

Our customers deploy our equipment in the Permian almost 100% of the time

Right now we're trending toward about half of 2023 on a topline $ basis. Volume on a unit basis is actually not nearly as behind. Our customers are just focused on different scope, lower value projects than they were the last couple years.

Not me but a very close family member is in retail (very much on the disposable income/highly elastic/gift end of the spectrum). Revenue has been trending down for a few years but partially because of a shift from brick and mortar to online/delivery. We are thinking about moving the business away from the high occupancy cost retail space on the corner to something much closer to a ghost kitchen - very small in-person retail and much larger back of house order fulfillment space, which would be a new model for the industry. I don't think that would cover the drop in revenue over the last 3 years though.

I own Living Tree LLC, an aggie/family owned tree service company in the bcs area.

It's interesting. I would say it's been harder to secure job volume because more people either don't respond to the free quotes or aren't interested in getting them. I assume this is because of a price problem and they just can't afford it. On my end its been harder to pay for labor just because everything has gone up and for me to be fair to my employees and myself I've had to adjust for that. Ironically in my industry it seems there has been a lot more competition show up in the last few years where it was previously its been stagnant, but not sure how long they will last.

2022 was a really good year
2023 dropped about 20% of 2022, still a good year
2024 will be +50-80% of 2023.

2022 excellent year
2023 very good year despite raw material costs and inflation out of control. Taking out inflated materials/inflation, sales about 15% increase
2024 likely mediocre year despite high demand and lower material costs. Labor issues forced cut back production, out of control material costs last year opened the door for competitors to flood market with cheap substandard substitutes this year that we won't do and that while they won't last long term in the marketplace they are having an impact on this year.

How does next year project for you?
We do commercial & high end residential landscape installation in the same area. While we are busy at the moment, next year looks to be taking a bit of a dip due to high interest rates & rapidly increasing home inventory.

At this point we're up about 45% over last year. That figure will probably come down in the second half of the year.
