I've gone ahead and joined the wait list for it. Gold also gives you up to $1,000 of margin interest free which you could just invest into a bond etf to gain back most of your expense to pay for gold. Makes the effective annual fee for this card almost nothing. Plus you can get 3% match on retirement investing if you want to use Robinhood for that (not sure I trust Robinhood with that though).

Nice, we get close to a free vacation, $1800, on points every year on our current 2% card. This would net an extra $75/month

I think the current sign up bonus for the Chase freedom unlimited is an extra 1.5% for the first year.

That card is 3% at restaurants/drug stores and 1.5% everywhere else so with the first year promo that's 4.5% restaurant and 3% everywhere else.

This is also in chase points so you can transfer them to a sapphire for 1.25x or 1.5x bonus for travel (depending on what version of the sapphire you have) or use the sapphire to transfer the points to Southwest airlines and/or Hyatt for even more value.

I've been a Gold member for a while, taking advantage of the 5% savings rate on non-invested cash. I keep a fairly large emergency fund there.
