"Bitcoin (BTC) continues to trade in red, reaching a low of $88,200 during Tuesday's early European trading session and hitting the lowest level since mid-November after falling 4.89% the previous day.

This price pullback triggered a wave of liquidation in the crypto market, totaling $1.34 billion,

with 367,500 traders wiped out in the past 24 hours.

Moreover, after its recent compromise, Bybit loses around $2 billion in BTC from reserves."

what does the bold of "wiped out" mean?!?!

is that just someone who doesn't speak English really meaning to say "selling their Bitcoin"

I understand that but the term "wiped out" means you lose all your investment and have to sell

just selling your position because you think the market is going down is NOT being 'wiped out'

so either the author of that report is a chinaman who can't speak english

or someone chasing clout and clicks.

because no one got wiped out selling BTC at $88,000

Maybe they were trading on leverage and had to sell to cover their losses? Or maybe the author is just bad with words.

They did not "just sell their positions."

Liquidation in leverage trading occurs when your leveraged position loses too much capital and your margin can no longer support the losses. This results in the closure of all positions and the loss of all funds in your account.

So, yes, their leveraged trade positions were "wiped out."

Still not a TA guy, but the 61.8% Fib level sits at $83.4k. I bought in at 88 and cancelled my 86.5k. Have another buy set for $84k to account for the buy spread.

the rumor was that they are considering rolling back the ETH blockchain to recover the funds, I believe that would be unprecedented

I understand the concept of leverage.

but how much of that occurs with Bitcoin?

and how would some "reporter' on a blog know how many investors are 'wiped out'?

I am not an expert.

However, I believe that is happens quite a bit with BTC. I have no idea how they know, but I have heard analysists mention this several times before

Funny, I had an order (from months ago) at 86.5 that got filled. I forgot I had setup that price level as an order. That came as a happy surprise.

i would imagine if they pulled something like that it would essentially be the end of the ETH
Yukon Cornelius

Maybe. The one thing that eth has going for it that no one else really does is the amount of stable coins on it. We're about to get a stable coin regulation bill. There's going to be even more stable coin creation over the next year or so and it's primarily on ethereum

I am so tired of financially getting nowhere with investing. My parents invested and have watched their money grow so much. I am losing confidence in the whole damn thing.

I hear ya. It's far more challenging than people think. And when you do good the government demands 20%.

Don't give up. Keep grinding. Try and remove emotion. Create a plan and stick to it

Macro things staying the same or better we will see another good pump this cycle I believe.

ETF went live in January. A month and then some of etf buying is now long term capital gains. Those positions are also up 80-90% right now. There's going to be a lot of sell pressure.

But as time goes on the price in short term will fall and the delta between spot and the trialing year will increasingly decrease. As tbe price falls and tbe price rise a year ago. So the gains will be less and less on more etf buys that hit the LTCG threshold. Which will slow sell pressure and at some point we will flip bullish I suspect. And we will have another run up before the next bear cycle.

It's an investment in the same way gold and currency is IMO. Sure you can speculate and bet on the come, but there's no operations to generate cash flow. That's been my opinion. Disclosure: I hold BTC a few others, gold, oil and gas interests and real estate.

BTC is the best mechanism ever invented to move money from impatient people to patient people. Now is not the time to be selling IMO

Update on WhiteRock

whitepaper https://docs.whiterock.fi/

This is a RWA play, basically the idea that tokenization will eventually dominate real world assets

in Feb 23rd 2025, currently up 25% in 4 days (it is up 82% this week alone)

This is my first adventure into the alt coin space. I will keep an updated tally on here.
