Hard to know based on the little information you've shared. Is it a case huge. Forgotten your login stuff or they've locked your account?

You'll likely need to go through their verification process. Try emailing them. Calling seems to never work in my experience

People are going to exchange their money in their bank accounts for ripple which is centrally and majority held by ripple lad to make transactions better?

I'm legitimately trying to understand the value proposition of ripple. Is it driven by pure speculation some banks going to use it? And if so what for or how or why?

Seems some here have invested in it and thought they would have some thoughts.

Ah, I see what you are saying.

Two things going on here. You have the speculators trying to jump on the train early predicting adoption. Their prediction would be that the banks trading back and forth internationally would be using this as a standard transactional distribution system. So instead of an American doing international business needing to figure out exchange rates of multiple different currencies, then waiting between hours and days for the transaction to change hands, you have a centralized distribution system reducing the amount of inefficiencies inherent in the system. And the transaction takes place much quicker.

Basically this chart:

Now whether this is that much of an advantage over the USD remains to be seen. One could argue that the ease of trading in dollars is heavily dependent on the direction the US is going in and their relation to the countries in question. It would probably be much easier to trade rubles for XRP than ruble for dollars right now, for example. I also question the speed of transaction makes up for the energy expenditure as a whole. Or whether a centralized blockchain payment system ends up being more energy efficient.

We will see I guess.

It's sound XRP is trying to replace all the central banks clearing house services. Big problem with that thesis is banks get money from central banks. Sometimes 0% interest 0% collateral. If they move away from those central banks clearing house devices can't imagine they will be getting the cheap money to loan out.

I had not logged into my account in a long time and do not have the same phone/authenticator app anymore so I guess I'm technically locked out. The weird thing is after being on the phone with "George" for about 10 minutes with most on hold or providing the same 2 pieces of information (legal name and email address) he said he couldn't find the account and hung up on me

You can lend Ripple with interest, and I'm betting some kind of concession will be made to kickback transaction fees to whales.

My main concern from a practicality point of view is just whether the energy expenditure justifies the speed increase. Then whether enough people are making their nut off of it from keeping politicians from screwing it up.

I still don't even understand the basic premise. How and why is it even better than current system

People can do business with other people without government getting in the way, basically. Incredibly faster, less people involved, less trust needed.

Is ripple decentralized? PoW or stake? I'm gathering it's essentially a quasi private/public blockchain?

Quasi public, not really either. They call it RPCA, which means that it relies on trusted validators to verify the block chain, rather than rewarding traditional stakers or miners. As a result, it's not nearly as decentralized.

How people are selected as "trusted," I have no idea.

Looks like you can add credit cards to Apple Pay. Are you saying that coinbase will somehow prevent you from paying with Apple Pay if you have a credit card hooked up but will let you buy if you have a debit card hooked up?

I've had some a while from when I first started getting into crypto in 2019 and picked a little more up during the downturn. I like the idea behind it. Wish I sold it when it was in the upper 40-50s though but glad to see a rebound

I'm very bullish on it. Tokenization for assets etc is coming. All of it needs chainlink

This is why I purchase my Bitcoin though and hold in my Fidelity account. More comfortable with them then Coinbase. I also buy monthly the Fidelity crypto ETF and two other BC ETFs every month and have since their startup.
