Problem with these speculative plays is are you "buying the dip" or trying to "catch a falling knife"?

You only know the answer in the future.

I didn't ask whether it was trash or not...I asked what limit buy would you put on it if you were buying it.
If you're hellbent on buying DOGE, set the limit to $.01 less than it is now.
Not sure why I'm getting reamed here when a poster literally towards the top of this page bragged about his DOGE purchase this morning that netted him $700 is getting stars. I'm trying to ride the train like everyone else, that's all.

Shut up and take the unsolicited advice from people that probably don't know much more than you do!

DOGE is silly but y'all throw money at it all you want. No cares from me but observing from the outside.

It's a fascinating tale in psychology/sociology to me. We all know and acknowledge it's a joke and has no utility, yet we invest in it anyway purely out of some version of Prisoner's Dilemma.

Yet, people are making a bunch of money off of it and that is the name of the game. Watching people get upset at others for investing and making money on DOGE is bizarre.

You're an idiot and a dumb ass for investing in that joke with no utility.

So I've been a buy and hold guy with crypto, but after looking at the charts, I think crypto seems to follow some technical indicators better than most stocks do these days. I think I'm gonna try to start actively trading this more.

Started with ETH last night. Sold at 2900 and had a limit buy fill this morning at 2400. Eyeballing the $3100 level for a sell when it likley hits and is rejected by the 34 EMA on the hourly. Will also be using the TTM Squeeze indicator to help ID proper times to buy/sell here.

Hold my beer!

I know and I'm not upset about it. It's an academic observation from the sideline on my part. Really fascinating to watch someone literally put something out there as a complete joke and people run with it anyway and create this self-fulfilling prophecy with it.

Many people have lost money and many more will continue to lose it. Doge is good for the winners, bad for the losers, and very bad for the space.

It will die off as the industry matures. Partially a function of the frontier nature of the space right now.

Well stated. Exactly why people should only purchase tokens they believe in due to utility and fundamentals, and not social media crazes. DD supercedes following blindly long term for the majority and mitigates losses compared to meme token fomo.

So this is all a bunch of nonsense.

I finally got into crypto about two or three months ago and bought ETH at $1000 and then again at $1700. Bought 7k worth. Portfolio got all the way up to like 16k.

All of a sudden it starts to come down and I sold at $3500. Take the profit right? NOOOOO. Thats not what Agsalaska does. I decided to buy again at $3200 and went to bet after setting a stop sell at $2500. Wake up this morning and everything is sold and Its trading at like $2300. Now its all the way back up to $2860.

Sitting on a $3100 profit.

A part of me want so take that money and tell my grandkids one day that yes, in 2021, I played around in that crypto thing y'all saw in a documentary.

But the Vegas side of me is saying roll the dice.

Its this thread schtick. They get their panties in a bunch over doge but will boast about other alt/**** coins.
XXXVII

Well, there are alt coins like ADA which are trying to solve real world problems and then there are sht coins like DOGE which have no utility.

Had we all bought AMPL we'd get a bunch of FORTH for free but alas, we did not.

I do like rebase coins though. Not really sure why exactly, they just are amusing.

Oh ok, I'll do better.

FORTH is a coin that works alongside AMPL, another coin.

FORTH is pretty much normal. AMPL does some freaky stuff and changes amounts while in your wallet.

A month ago everyone that owned AMPL got a bunch of free FORTH.

I don't have a lot of insight beyond that.

I was listening to a podcast today where someone states that Bitcoin will be the only coin worth holding on to because none of the altcoins will be around long enough to gain significant market share before the US fiat dollar crashes. Anyone have thoughts around this?

I'm pretty new, but arguably BTC is the crypto equivalent of fiat. And some alts will survive because they will be integral to the blockchain.

What others here have been saying is that ADA and LINK have some of the best current and future use to the blockchain, and will also still be standing. That is what some of us are betting on.

I'm feeling very good about my Bitcoin investment today, after a sizeable black swan event, the buyers showed up, BTFD, and we're pretty close to the $38K support line that looked like a good entry point for a reversal trend moving higher. With a bulk of my investment, being longer term hodling, I'd rather be at $64K, but it is good to see the resiliency of BTC compared to the alternatives. If you slept in today, and woke up around noon - you'd see $39K bitcoin, and think darn, it hasn't reversed the short-term trend, and you might have missed the $31K excitement.

Call me a BTC maximalist if you like, as it is probably true, but I think new investors really under-estimate the value in the scarcity of 21 million bitcoin vs. 116 million (and growing) Eth or or 32 billion Cardano. I love Cardano, and I think it takes out Eth in the next couple of years, but again, the supply scarcity of BTC and the alt coins make it an apples to oranges comparison for me. Then you layer on stupid unorganized people buying BTC and losing it, forgotten passwords, etc. and you start to get an extremely rare commodity.

I've seen some compare BTC to Netscape Navigator and Eth or Ada to IE or Chrome, etc. When I think about them, I see BTC as Microsoft, Ethereum as Netscape Navigator, and Ada as Chrome.

Not financial advice, take it for what it is worth, but clearly lots of new Crypo investors on this thread which is great and I think it is good to hear different perspectives.

I've got a fair amount of ADA myself. I'm just hoping ADA takes off before the USD collapses.
