That will happen soon. Keep that in mind too, it's doubled in price in 2 weeks and isn't even listed for the 30-40 million on coinbase. You can buy it on Bittrex.

I'm looking at this Ledger hardware wallet online and curious how this works? So, it's essentially a USB drive that stores your private keys but it also has its own proprietary trading platform software like Coinbase from which to buy/sell/swap/stake coins.

So, am I able to connect to my Coinbase portfolio and back it up on the Ledger? Or am I starting over with the Ledger platform and have two different portfolios?

When you want to transfer crypto from Coinbase to your Ledger, your Ledger will generate a public key for each type of crypto or account you've setup on the Ledger Live app. You'll go into Coinbase and send your crypto to that address. The crypto will no longer be on Coinbase and you'll be able to see all the Crypto you've transferred on the Ledger Live app. You don't have to buy any crypto through Ledger. This would be the same process if you were to transfer crypto between Coinbase or Voyager for example, you just control the encryption keys with ledger. And if anything happens to your Ledger you can "rebuild" your portfolio on another device if you have the 24 word pass phrase since all of your crypto is on the blockchain, not the Ledger.

I might've asked this previously, but what is the benefit of a wallet vs just keeping it in Coinbase? I view Coinbase like a brokerage account where I can buy stock and just leave is there. Is that line of thinking wrong? Is there some kind of negative to keeping in CB?

Your 24 word pass phrase with a hardware wallet is your own encryption key. With that, anyone can steal your crypto and you have no recourse, but you have total control with it. On something like Coinbase, you have an account with them but they have the encryption keys. If they get hacked, and others have in the past like Mt. Gox, you have no recourse other than the policies and ability of the exchange to replace your crypto.

****So never share your encryption key or put it on the web.*****

I'm seeing on bittrex a bitcoin digibyte and usd digibyte. What's the difference, and which one would be better to invest in?
