Yes the ER is billed at the network rate, it's the hospital stay that will eat you alive.

I'm a member of Samaritan and pay cash.

The amount of savings for paying cash vs what is charged to insurance companies can't be described with any other word than stupid. Drugs as well. It is eye opening and pretty sick.

I'm covered for anything from $300 to $1 million.

$1 million probably doesn't go very far if you have regular insurance.
