On the Parker nextdoor I consistently see threads of people complaining about drivers speeding and running red lights! Must be all the Texans

I guess it varies in different areas.

, we rented in Parker for the first year and bought a house in Aurora this last September. Would love to be further south but as you can see, I have no AgTag and thus, am poor. LOL

It's funny my aunt lives in Eagle heritage bend, and apparently there's a term there many residents use to describe about where the live -"Parker Adjacent"

I just moved to Denver from Dallas. I have one question.

Why can't people here drive? At all?
I think drivers are quite a bit better here than Texas. From my experience, there are more cautious/slower drivers here but way less crazies driving 30-40 over the limit.

I moved from Longmont back to Texas 14 months ago. I'm back in Lone Tree working for a month and it sounds like they want me back here permanently. If there ends up being an outing at TG or elsewhere, I'd like join up.

My contribution to the steakhouse discussion would potentially be Steakhouse 316. It is in Boulder now and fantastic, but I've heard the owners weren't crazy about the location. I would love to have them open up in south Denver.

And you can add QT to that list. Parker has one going up and it should be open by now I'd assume.

What we really need is HEB!!!

I was just going for Texas institutions, but yeh.
It's been open for 2 months now. Gas is like $2.30-$2.60 a gallon

Douglas County is obviously pretty conservative and has a "Texan feel" to it. Out of HR, Littleton, Parker, CR (and all other parts of Douglas), what feels the most like Texas?

I'd say it's Parker. Maybe it's because we were inner loopers in Houston but this town feels pretty country/conservative, borderline redneck to me.

Not saying I don't absolutely love it!

Is any place less windy than others? Looking at Woodmoor, hoping the trees would help.

Newbie to CO but I feel like SE CO might be windier than most of the other parts. Deferring to 62strat, proudaggie, and the other long timers…..

well, the Friday wind just tossed someone's shingle though my window. So not gonna deny the wind here. But it isn't THAT often.

Come spring time, it can definitely get wild with the wind. It's made me really strategize how much crap I want on our decks & what needs to be strapped down. Meanwhile, my wife keeps cluttering it up.

Weather is looking good guys. Are we still shooting for TG on Friday? I'm actually off work so my schedule is wide open.

I literally pulled this thread up a few minutes ago after checking forecast, then got sidetracked lol.

I had a few (elusive to me) deadlines already this week, so I should all clear come friday.

I should be able to make lunch/Top Golf on a Friday. I'd say the lower the temps, the better... so I'm not tempted to play a round of golf. I think the Top Golf heaters raise the temp by 20*.

Howdy All posted this on the golf thread and they said to ask here as well.

Wife and I are taking a short trip to Denver the week of my birthday and I have been looking at places to play.

I narrowed my choices down to the three below and was wondering if anyone has experience on any of the courses. Open to other places to play as well. We will have a rental car and I am going to try to play at least 2 courses.

From my preliminary research they all have about the same Slope rating and total yardage of my home course. My current front runner is Fox Hollow since I think it appears to be the prettiest view.

As for handicaps, the Wife just started playing and won't be playing her own shots. I am currently a 21 handicap.

Appreciate any more info or even other course suggestions, Thanks!

Raccoon Creek

Fox Hollow

Todd Creek

On the golf thread they said to avoid Raccoon Creek (continuously 5+ hours) and that Fox hollow was solid but Riverdale Dunes might be a better option. Of the responses no one had played Todd Creek yet.

You are overthinking this. If you want to play two courses with great views, assuming you aren't averse to $100+ green fees, then you want to play Bear Dance and Arrowhead.

Yes. Easily the most scenic public course on the Front Range.

I would rank these as my top 5 for a visitor:

1) Bear Dance
2) Arrowhead
3) Fossil Trace
4) Ridge at Castle Pines
5) TPC Colorado

If amenities and the restaurant are a big part of your day then I would move TPC Colorado up to #2. It's a drive though from downtown.

LUaggie19- when are you coming to Denver? Courses like Bear Dance, Ridge at Castle Pines, and probably Arrowhead to a lesser extent… aren't typically in great shape until mid/late May. If you're playing 2 rounds, I'd play one of Fox Hollow (Canyon-to-Meadows for the 9's), City Park if you're able to get one (for an "in the city" vibe), or Lone Tree (down south/my home course)… and play one of Bear Dance or Arrowhead. Arrowhead has great views on 10-12 holes but is typically just in decent shape (especially for the price), and Bear Dance has great views as well: in the forest for 2/3 of the course & sone open views for the rest. I think Bear Dance is a better course, but it's hard to score on as you can't tell what's in front of you on a lot of holes.

Fossil Trace is a good one too, and Golden is a sweet town for beer and to spend some time. Bob's Atomic Burgers is great.

Ill be there 4/28 - 5/2

Will avoid Saturday and try to play Sunday & Monday, Monday only if I can only play 1 course

It's the City.

I relocated from Texas to the Western Slope, and then over to Denver 2 years later. The crazy *******s weaving in & out of traffic on I 25 are going to get someone killed.

I have seen allot of horrible drivers in Houston, and Dallas, but the lane weaving by trucks/cars, and risky high speed lane splitting by motorcycles is something I have never seen in Texas.
Anyone who chooses to ride a bicycle in the street is a threat to themselves, and others. If a vehicle strikes you accidentally, YOU are at fault; and the laws of physics supercede all else when you're in the path of a 2 ton killing machine. Know your place, stay off the road.

Interesting. My observation is that it's quite a bit worse in Texas than here with respect to crazy drivers weaving in and out of traffic. I was in Houston for 5 years prior to moving to Denver in 2009, and I remember being relieved when I moved here as far as driving/traffic.
