Correct. Not a bad spot, but could be better. The lack of A/C really doesn't help though.

Table Mountain Inn has a pretty good Tex-Mex place. Stay away from the margaritas if you need to be productive the rest of the day though!

Place across the street is Woody's Wood fired Pizza. GREAT stuff.

We just ate at Bob's Atomic Burgers two weeks ago. They have an old-school Fatburger feel to them (when Fatburger was next to the old Albertsons on University & S.College). REALLY good burgers.

I guess I should've said utilities/energy, but companies like Xcel Energy, Colorado Springs utilities, etc.

Starting today she is Vice President of Strategic Revenue Initiatives. For the last 3 years she has been VP - Rates and Regulatory Affairs (basically #2 for Xcel in Colorado)

In all seriousness, she's great, working hard so I get to have all the fun with our boys. (Taxi Driver)

Congrats to her then. Has she been with the company longer than those 3 years and moved up within the company to where she is now? I only ask because upward mobility is a huge factor for me in looking at future jobs.

Yes - started in their Amarillo 5.5 years ago. Move here was a promotion.

One of my best friends started in an entry level regulatory job with them in 2013 and has been promoted twice since that time.

With the demographics of their industry/company, younger employees are desired as their current management structure is aging and utilities aren't the sexy industry that O&G is, for example.

Solid company.

Oh wow. I've got my feet wet in the industry with a couple of years of experience under my belt. Now starting to look out for places that can provide the opportunity to move up since I know this is the industry I want to be in.

Howdy Ags,

I am Looking for some connections in the oil/gas industry here in Denver.
I have a Manufacturing and mechanical engineering degree and 3.5 years of field experience in the oil field. My experience consists of MWD field engineer work with a Directional service company. I am looking to get my foot in the door as a well planner or anything that is more office based. Being away from home for months at a time is getting hard ( especially on my wife!).

If you guys have any leads I would greatly appreciate them.

Well that's unfortunate! Colorado is still pretty slow but it seems like it's starting to come back.

Yeah, no way it is worth it. You would spend more time in the car than on the slopes.

Hey All,

I have been stuck in Houston for three years and as someone with a million outdoor hobbies(backpacking, climbing, flyfishing, anything outdoors) I am getting beyond restless. Starting to look at Denver pretty seriously for a career change in the Finance field. Any recommendations at all on making a change from Houston to Denver? Maybe things to consider before heading towards the mountains. I have skimmed the thread, but there is so much to try and break down to general thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

This was going to be my advice too. It's a big decision but don't overthink it. We talked about it in July, came in August to look around, came again in October, bought a house and moved on Jan 1 (almost 2 years ago from Houston).

I'm not technically in Denver (about 2 hours West on 70) but same difference.
