Anybody on this thread live in Castle Pines? I'd like to know a little more about getting in/out of the area in bad weather.
We live about as close as you can get to Castle Pines and still be in Highlands Ranch. Which part of CP are you looking at?
Bad weather that actually impacts travel is fairly rare, averaging maybe a handful of times per year. Places like Castle Pines and other areas of Douglas County are pretty good about getting plows to the main roadways quickly. You'll be able to use Monarch and Castle Pines Parkway pretty easily unless it's the absolute worst days (think the bomb cyclone last March). But on those days, the entire metro area is shut down, so it's nothing different than the rest of the region.
The individual neighborhood streets are down the list of places to get plowed, but that's standard everywhere. I-25 can occasionally see temporary closures with snow and high wind, but CDOT does a good job of getting them back up and running quickly.
We love the area and are actively looking that direction, for our next house if we decide to move. Specially we are looking off of Happy Canyon.
Let me know if you've got more questions. We love it here.
