So I have a united club card and with this I get 10,000 mile certificates to use toward a flight. They have a 1 year expiration date.
I booked 5 flights to Hawaii back in march for a trip we planned in August for 250,000 miles total. Used 240,000 of my own miles and the 10,000 certificate.
Unfortunately, tropical storm Lala had other plans and my flight got canceled. Unable to rebook so asked for a refund.
United refunded me the 240,000 miles back to my account and "reinstated" the certificate. Only now this certificate expired 2 weeks before the flight was scheduled to occur. So it appeared in my account expired and disappeared completely the next day. I called United and they absolutely refuse to reinstate a 10k certificate or give me 10k miles.
They should give me what I asked for or am I crazy?
