Recommendations for us to rent a boat for an afternoon or a semi private boat that does tours in the afternoon. Don't wanna be on something with more than 15 people and there's four of us already.

We rented from Tahoe Sports Ski Run Boat Company. No complaints. We took the boat on our own with our family of 5. We have owned a boat for years, so familiarity wasn't an issue. Basically drove up the east side of the lake to Sand Harbor. Swam around there for a while, then cut across to the west side and back down through Emerald Bay. Got a little rough out in the middle of the lake, but not too bad.

If you are going to rent a boat on Lake Tahoe and captain it yourself, make sure you are very comfortable in rough water as the weather on lake tahoe can change very fast and can become dangerous. If you do captain the boat and are not comfortable in rough water, be sure to stay close to shore. Will take longer, but will keep you out of trouble.

Also constantly check the weather to make sure nothing surprises you.

Rented boats multiple times from Tahoe Sports Ski Run Boat. 100% the way to go. While I respect that if you go out in rough weather it can get weird, Tohoe's best quality is that most days are sunshine and perfection. Get out on the water and enjoy it.
