A steakhouse is one of the most boring types of restaurant you can go to in NYC. It isn't going to be as good as a top steakhouse in Texas.

To make it somewhat interesting, you should go to somewhere unique to there.

Peter Luger in Brooklyn is the most well known and historic. The food is not great, but it is an experience.

Keen's for the mutton chop was a good suggestion.

4 Charles is probably the most trendy steak place in town.

Depends a lot on your price range. What are you willing to pay for two people? And do you drink?

That is kind of vague. Are you maxing out at $500? $1000? $1500?

If you're open to non steak house places, My wife and I were just there and I really enjoyed La Grande Boucherie. French restaurant with a very cool looking entrance and bar area. Food and cocktails were excellent. Walking distance to rockefeller, times square, broadway.

Patrizia's of Williamsburg

My wife is from NY and I'd never been until about 10 years ago. Her family took me to Patrizia's and it was some of the best food and the best and fun atmosphere I'd ever been!

They play music in there and the entire restaurant gets into it and has a good time. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kvg6XBXrJCBsMcVdA

For the price… even scaling for NYC, I found Quality Meats pretty underwhelming for a steak house when I went in March.

That trip was with my 10th grade daughter. By far our favorite dinner there was Osteria Nonnino. I'm with the guy who said it above… I've been to a lot of steak houses in NY over the years. And if you are an infrequent visitor, I really don't know why you'd stop at one in the City when there's so much other top notch food you won't find pretty much anywhere else in the States.

Good advice. I think something that is unique and has a variety would be good. We are staying in midtown so some place walkable would be nice

We stayed in midtown and as mentioned before La Grande boucherie was right there for French. Bucatini for Italian. Both excellent.

Can also vouch for this one. If you're going to be in that area this is a good one. Definitely more modern steakhouse but food is great

I lived in NYC for 7 years and I never went to a steakhouse the entire time I lived there. There's so much good food there. Zero reason to go to a steakhouse, especially when you can go to a steakhouse anywhere.
