We'll be in Amsterdam for a couple of days in late May followed by 4.5 days in Paris. The trip planner we're using suggested a few tours that I was curious about…basically are they worth it paying for a guide, would we enjoy this, etc.

The question: would either of the Paris tours be easy to do ourselves? Would a guided tour in an area like this be worth it? Cool?

None of the household has ever been to either city so we don't really have a basis on which to measure if something is needed or not.

Zaanse Schans Windmill Village isn't that big and will be crowded. I personally don't think a guide is worth it unless your family enjoy touristy demonstrations.

I did the Monmartre food tour with my daughter and a friend - both 17 at the time - in July 2022. We loved it! We were meeting the rest of our family in Rome later in the trip (my husband and our three boys who were 12, 12 and 15 at the time) and booked a similar tour there based on our Paris experience. Would absolutely recommend. Have fun!

We did Montemarte by ourselves in 2019. Just walked around (tons of stairs), took the funicular up there. It was neat and good views of the city.
