Wide and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in a few months and looking into some options for anniversary trip.

Visited El dorado casitas about 10 years ago and looking at possible return trip.
How safe is travel to these resorts outside Cancun?

Any other recommendations for adults only resorts in Mexico or Caribbean? Flying outta Houston

TIA

Cancun proper is by far more unsafe than the area around Cancun.

I send clients to Cancun and Riviera Maya area all the time and have not had a concern for safety for any of them. I travel to the area quite frequently by myself and have never felt unsafe. Granted, I'm not going out at night in dark alleyways in Cancun downtown and I don't think anyone should either.
I personally tell my clients to be smart travelers in most destinations and you will be fine.

El Dorado Casitas is a good option but if you wanted to try something new I would look at some of the Secrets properties or Excellence properties. There are so many great adults only, all-inclusive options in Mexico and the Caribbean. Will all depend on your must haves and budget.

Feel free to reach out if you need any help planning or booking - I specialize in Mexico and Caribbean and I think we could definitely find the perfect resort to celebrate your anniversary.

I travel to Mexico 4-5 times a year solo as an agency owner , and in 2024 alone, I've visited over 30 all-inclusive resorts. Resorts evolve over time, so what worked for you 10 years ago might not meet your needs today. With my firsthand experience, I'd love to help you find the perfect fit for your next trip! My contact is in my bio! I'm adding some pics I've taken this year from Mexico

Went to Belize a few years ago. Been trying to get back. I enjoyed it much more than Mexico. This was the resort.

We loved Secrets Maroma Beach. Staff was excellent; beach is the best; pool was never crowded.

Fun activities and food was good for an AI.

Small enough to walk easily, too. Get a swim-out room; we loved ours.

We went to Secrets Maroma Beach as well last summer and enjoyed it. It is smaller than the other resorts we have been too but very nice.

XCaret in Playa is very nice, and tons to do.

Hotel Riu in Playa is very mid. I'd avoid that one.
