We're in uncharted territory here. New parents, looking to take a trip next spring with a ~9 month old. Google results for where to go domestically had a slew of opinions, but one pretty constant was San Diego. I know they're supposed to have an awesome zoo, and Joshua's tree is in the vicinity, but is there anything else in the area that would be fun for a family with an infant?

La Jolla Cove (sea lion beach) is fun. Some good restaurants in walking distance

Go watch the paragliders sail around the cliffs at the Torrey Pines gliderport

My family is a fan of Richard Walker's Pancake House, which the one downtown on Front Street is next to a Children's Museum. Haven't done the museum but looks cool. Breakfast and the museum could be a good way to spend part of a day

I know this trip is more infant in tow and not for the kid but San Diego would be great for the child if you wait til three years old

so I would wait a few more years for San Diego personally

Charleston is very walkable even with a stroller, Savannah as well

Thanks! I had Charleston in the back of my mind as a get a hotel room downtown, and walk around the city for a week when I started researching. It's probably the backup plan if we don't do San Diego. I've never been south of Anaheim, so I wasn't sure what San Diego had to offer.

We did this trip back in 2016 when our first was 18 months old. We had a blast then. She was old enough to enjoy the beach, the zoo and see the sea lions in La Jolla. Enjoy.

We took our son to San Diego when he was 6 months and 18 months. At 6 months he wasn't really interested in much so it was really more of him along for the ride with whatever we wanted to do. At 18 months he had a blast.

1) The San Diego Zoo is awesome. They also have the San Diego Zoo Safari Park which I also recommend
2) La Jolla is a good place to see wildlife
3) Coronado beach is a fun area to visit. You'll see a ton of military aircraft which is cool
4) The midway museum is also a good visit
5) There's a children's museum if you want something kid friendly
6) Balboa park is a good place to go walk around
7) liberty station is a nice area with kids parks and you can watch planes take off from the airport

We just did this trip in June and started in San Diego and ended in Pismo Beach. I'll try to find the thread but great recommendations from fellow Ags.

Also, this place in La Jolla was pretty good if you're into seafood.
