Never been to OKC but I will be there for 2 nights in April. Where is a good spot to stay that has nice hotels, good food and entertainment? A quick search suggested Bricktown.

Bricktown for sure

I would stay downtown, bricktown adjacent. You can walk or scooter to all the bricktown things, but there is some riffraff there at night that you could avoid. Automobile alley is also close by and that's a cool area.

There are a few nice hotels downtown, I usually stay at the Skirvin or Colcord (I'm a Hilton guy) but there's a nice Marriott property as well close to there but I forget the name.

If you don't stay at one of those: Avoid SW OKC unless you are right next to the airport, avoid all of West OKC unless you go out to Yukon or further, and avoid east OKC by tinker. The NW side of town by the mall isn't bad, more suburban though and still some rough patches.

The Skirvin. Nice Hilton hotel, on the downtown side of the tracks, but adjacent to Bricktown. Stayed there for the Big XII tournament a couple of times. There have been more hotels built in that area since I last stayed there, but I definitely think Bricktown is your best general target area.

Thanks everyone. We're planning on seeing Cross Canadian Ragweed in Stillwater in April, but all the hotels in Stillwater are sold out. OKC is about an hour drive, but I think it gives the most options.

Tulsa about the same distance, less fun stuff. Bartlesville further away, but Woolorock is pretty

I'd much rather stay in OKC than Tulsa. Plus depending on where you're coming from, Tulsa is likely out of the way.

Are you just coming in for that show and that's it? If that's the case and you're not planning on spending time exploring OKC then just stay at the Hilton Garden Inn on Covell in Edmond. Will reduce your travel time to Stillwater.

The Lively at OAK could be a good option. Just opened.

OKC is awesome, Bricktown would be the last place I'd stay. Lived there from 2009-2017.

Is Quail Springs decent? That's what I have reserved for the potential Cross Canadian Ragweed concert. I just booked what was closest to Stillwater with Marriott.

Why is Bricktown the last place you'd stay?

My wife and me are driving in from Austin on Friday afternoon, so we'll be able to explore on Friday and Saturday morning before heading to Stillwater.

What hotel? Tons of stuff to do around there but zero charm.

I misspoke... you could stay down there but I wouldn't spend most of my time just hanging out there. Midtown and Film Row have fun places to hang.

Joey's Pizza is my personal fave there...miss it every day.

Springhill. There were several options, I just went with the cheapest. I don't know how much we will be "doing" while we are there. We may spend one night in the Tulsa area. We have a rent house there we have never seen, so it wouldn't be a bad thing to go check it out.

Pahdz recommendation of the Hilton Garden Inn at Covell at 35 in Edmond is a solid pick to be closer - 40 minutes from Stillwater. Not lots of restaurants right there though, so it's a tradeoff.

I would say stay in Norman.

We were there for a baseball tournament a couple of summers ago. While in Bricktown, there was a shooting around the corner from us. That was nuts.

Also, the area to the north of the airport has a lot of hotels but also a lot of strip joints and rif raf.

seriously though, I would not stay in OK City but would look at Norman or another suburb.

Sorry but this is terrible advice.

Except the part about stuff near the airport.

You won't die downtown.

Also, if you're planning to go to Stillwater, why pick a suburb to the south of OKC, and add that traffic?

There's not really traffic in OKC outside of about 30 minutes in the morning and evening. Bricktown is fine. Airport is sketchy.

The Ambassador in OKC and the Mayo in Tulsa are great hotels.

Have gone the VRBO/AIRBNB route several times on OKC. Very affordable when compared to a hotel. Also - for dining we enjoyed Cheever's.

Okc resident.

Aim for Midtown if planning to go out at night time or go to the newer food option. Bricktown has become very trashy and there are shootings at the night clubs there routinely. The biggest hotels are still in the bricktown area, but would advise an Uber or the streetcar to the midtown district. Majority of the shops/restaurants have bailed on bricktown.

Another poster mentioned quail springs which is a quieter area north of town but will be closer to Stillwater. Chisholm creek is a decent option for food / beer including Gordon Ramsay's place, chalk sports bar, and near enough to the quail springs hotels
