Looking for a checked bag specifically, one that can hold a lot but keep me under 50 pounds. With durable wheels! Have never had a hardside but have heard good things about Delsey.

Have had mainly soft-sided expandable Travelpro, but last trip my checked bag came down the return belt with clothing spilling out. Zipper was compromised but ultimately not damaged, so I am not sure what happened…and nothing was missing.

Anyway, I don't completely trust review searches, so any anecdotal recs would be appreciated!

I've been happy with my Bigger Carry-on by Away.

Have not heard of them…but they look like they have all the features I am looking for. Thanks! Have to ding them for not having a maroon option

I've had Delsey expandable hard cases for a few years now. I've used them for Cabo, London, and multiple trips to India. All the wheels still work. Very tough.

I'm exclusively carry-on and have beat a Monos Bigger Carry-On to death.

My wife has the Away Bigger Carry-On.

Don't fall for the marketing like I did on Monos. The Away is a much better bag.

While my Monos has held up, the wheels seem to gum up at times and pushing the bag is a pain. Further, the handle telescopes back into the case such that if the case is very full, the handle has a hard time expanding. My wife packs much more than I do and never has an issue.

I want in on this question too. Looking for a new checked bag as of this weekend, when I noticed holes in my old bag. Samsonite soft sided. Lasted a good while, but looking for something to get me through for a long time.

Keep an eye on their website. They change their colors often. They've had burgundy before.

Away makes checked luggage as well.

They are not cheap, but we have a couple of rolling duffels from Osprey that are really well built and have been very durable. The wheels are easy to replace when they eventually wear out (they all will eventually).

My Ogio stuff holds up well.

I've got the Carry On Size (Layover) but always check it, and the big Sled 9800 bag. The bigger one just so I can fly with my winter gear for work in North Dakota. Can get you into trouble easy w/ room for 70 lbs. 50 lbs and you'll have space to kill.

They make a mid sized one - Terminal that will be my next go to.

Really durable stuff. Going on year 3 of airline travel every 2 weeks with mine.

Big fan of Briggs and Riley. Not cheap, but a lifetime warranty. I've had a roller since 2006. Had to replace a wheel, and it was simple and no issues with warranty coverage

Monos Carry On Pro Plus.

I would not recommend their regular 1" smaller version as it's good for 2-3 days.

I have both the carry on and the big checked one. United recently jacked up the handle on the big checked bag on a flight and Away sent me a replacement free of charge. I swapped it out and it's good as new. This was for a ~8 year old suitcase.

I recommend cheap as possible as any good ramp agent worth their salt will destroy your bag no matter what you paid for it.

And make sure you can count four wheels on the bottom or it's definitely going to be destroyed.

I actually like the iFly brand and Walmart usually carries it. I've had a medium, hard side checked luggage since 2018 and it is still going strong. The expander zipper broke but is still usable and it hardly has any scratches.

We travel quite a bit so I probably need to invest in some more quality pieces but I just don't want to pay the price.

I have used the Away for awhile. Little over 40 flights. It is still holding up.
