Is the underground train at IAH running between B and C? Someone said a couple weeks ago that the train was shut down due to construction. Is that still the case?

Yes. It shut down for only a week or so. It's been back running for a month or more.

That train has to be the lowest tech airport transportation between terminals on the planet as it is like 1950's Lionel train sophistication. As a Houstonian it truly is embarrassing compared to basically every other airport in the world.
Hardly anyone knows it is there. It was made back in the day when you left security to change terminals.
There's another much newer train you can take. But, the damn thing still works and has been great dealing with all of the construction.
I halfway want to ride it next time I'm back in town just for nostalgic sake
It's getting used a lot right now since terminal E is (or was) a hot mess with the construction. Not sure if it has gotten any better but I was advising all my clients to ride to A or B after they exit customs and immigration rather than trying to pick up an Uber or shuttle there. Q

It's throwback vibe is what makes it fantastic.
The first time I rode that train in between terminals, I was so excited. It was a letdown.

I enjoy watching the people who decided to walk instead of riding it pass by while the train is waiting at each terminal to load/unload. For a normal healthy adult pulling a rolling suitcase, beating the train to the terminal via walking is very doable.

If you asked me to picture an airport train in Houston, the home of NASA, then it's exactly what I would have expected.
If you ever get stuck at IAH and get tired of sweating and smelling other people in genpop, take that inter terminal train to the Marriott hotel and work from the upstairs lobby. It's quiet, they got the A/C cranked, clean restrooms and restaurant downstairs.

Agree, and we rarely use it. But this is our first trip with the newborn so we will be checking luggage (more than I care to admit) for the first time in a long time, which means leaving the secure area in C on our return to get our bags but I'm parking at B.
