Ok so my wife and I aren't really cruise people - we prefer to get more into the local culture. But while on Spring Break 2023, we started talking about 2024 and both daughters really liked the idea.

So what are everyone's favorite 5-7 day trips?

Thanks for the help!!

I don't have a personal experience but I've been researching this for my family and I'm leaning more towards Disney at this point (elementary aged neice and nephew).

A double dip to Castaway Cay on one of the Disney ships is a great cruise.

Options out of Florida will certainly have better ports than what you can get out of Galveston.

Carnival has a brand new ship coming later this year (Jubilee) in Galveston. Royal Caribbean will be bringing in Harmony of the Seas. I have groups on both of those for spring break.

Going out of Florida you will have the Bahamas and each cruise line has their own private island that they usually visit. To get to the Bahamas out of Galveston you have to do an 8 day.

Either works. My wife is an FA for Alaska so we can get almost anywhere.

In that case I would choose a better itinerary out of Florida. I would book sooner than later just because spring break ends up being the 3rd most expensive week of the year to cruise. If I can help out let me know (email in signature). Sometimes I can save money on cruise lines (usually Royal Caribbean and others. Not usually Carnival.

age of kids?

We did disney last year with my 6/7 boys and their cousins 7/9. It was amazing. We had concierge, which had some perks that really made it a different experience and put it next level. Lots of exclusivity type stuff, which on a ship of 4000 cruisers, can be nice.

They have the new ship now (the Wish).

With kids I would focus on Disney's options.

Royal Caribbean does well with families as well, especially the new megaships that go out of Florida. The private island CocoCay is really nice. Plus you could do 2 for the price of 1 Disney cruise.

I got off the Dream 8 day yesterday to Key West and 3 stops in the Bahamas. I doubt we go out of Galveston again on Spring Break. It was full with everyone on Spring Break. Lots of teenagers running the ship all the time with no supervision.

They did have a pretty good brawl at the Lido Pool between two families. They kicked 11 of them off the ship in Freeport and let them find their own way home, so that was nice.

We've cruised out of Florida on Spring Break and it was a way better clientele(not everyone is spring breakers) and they go better ports. I would definitely recommend going out of Florida since flights aren't an issue.

Disney is real expensive and doesn't have casinos, so I'm out on that one.

Haven't seen you post in a long time. Hope you are doing well. (I'm from your hometown). Yes spring break out of Galveston is nuts lol.

I have three kids under the age of 9 and we just finished three nights on the Disney Wish. Unbelievable. I'd go back and book a longer cruise next time.

If you go with Galveston, Royal Caribbean seemed more family friendly for us than Carnival. Cozumel - Jamaica - Grand Cayman is a nice 7 day trip and there are lots of shore excursions the kids will enjoy.

Do NOT go Carnival with family. I go on Carnival with some scuba diving buddies just for a cheap way to get to multiple dive locations on the course of a couple of days. We're adults so we can manage. Your kids will probably get beat up by the children of some of the thug and/or white trash parents on the boat. Your likely to get the same by the parents.

I would also recommend Royal Caribbean out of Florida for Spring Break...love their private island day on most itineraries.

I just booked a nice itinerary out of Fort Lauderdale to USVI - BVI - and their perfect day at CocoCay. I thought it was neat because it wasn't the normal to the Bahamas and Jamaica - something different and still a great ship with activities for all ages.
