We've stayed in Watercolor and Destin, but my favorite that is less crowded but not too far out of Seaside is Grayton Beach.

I'm lost too. Going to Destin every year in the '80s I remember when Destin pretty much ended at the resort that looks like stair steps. When Sanddestin opened that was the place to go. East of that there was nothing until Panama City.

From what I hear it's built up so much it's a PITA now. This is where we stayed every year. I assume this place is a sh^thole now.

Bumping this.

Headed to Watercolor this summer with the family, and none of us have been. Looking for fishing guides (inshore preferably) that anyone can recommend. Tried on the Outdoor Board, but did not get any hits. I have several friends who have been to this area, but none of them went fishing. Any help is much appreciated.

I am usually not super big on referrals especially fishing stuff because I am not a bigger fishing guy but we did go to Destin 2 years ago and drove down to Panama City beach and used "Miss Kelley Fishing Charters"

Keep in mind you said "less crowded" not equally nice beach.

You can find some sweet spots east of Perdido Key, FL - don't get me wrong it's gets crowded, but not nearly as crowded as Orange Beach and Gulf shores.

I've been looking at St. George Island, FL but my wife wants to be "on the beach" , on the water.
