We are splitting time between downtown and Cosmo. Probably watch games in the book/bar at Cosmo unless Circa book/bar is open yet? Sucks the Ags start at 9AM - Friday is generally a pretty late one...

Circa book looks to be open as they're taking reservations.

$650 min for 4 hours seems a bit steep for Fremont though

We are landing at 9 am Saturday. Gonna be scrambling to check in and get to the sports book for the game.

Hollywood are you traveling this weekend or home in Cali? 4 of us Ags are gonna head to Vegas this weekend if you just happen to be traveling for work.
Bro, any other weekend, I'd jump over to Vegas.

Unfortunately this week, I've got to travel to Washington (State) Wed-Fri and then Saturday we're going to start driving to Waco for the two week holiday break.

But, maybe if we went via Vegas, and spent Saturday night there instead of Tucson, that might work. I'll have to check out the schedule.

Sucks you gotta spend that much time in Waco. Make sure you get some Helburg while you're around.

Agreed. Probably be Cosmo book. Looks cool but that's more than we can eat and drink for sure.

Don't worry, it'll only be for about 5 days before heading to Galveston to visit the other relatives.
5 days in Waco is about all I can stand. I already served a 3 year prison sentence there called - High School.

I did take my now 84 y/o father out to Helberg maybe 2 years ago. It was fantastic. The major problem I had was that we ordered too many sides and had to take a bunch of food home.

Ya the Cosmo book is a great vibe on Saturday during College Football Season. This will be my 3rd Saturday this season... although I just sit at the bar and play video poker while watching and don't bother with the tables and reservation nonsense. I'd much rather gamble for the drinks than just pay for them outright.

I also use this strategy. Unfortunately it's probably cost me 5x the amount of money if I had just paid for the over priced drinks.

I remember strolling through the Venetian one night with some friends. They wanted to grab a drink at the bar. I decided to play a few rolls of craps and order a free drink. I paid $250 for that drink.

I think we are going in January. $200 for flights, the Paris for $50 a night... hell, even there are a few nuisances, we'll deal with it!

Any update on Vegas?

Is it even worth going right now?
Have a trip planned soon and getting pretty close cancellation deadline.
Flight and room pretty cheap but I know shows are not running and most bars are closed.

Have read even more stuff is shut down through mid January for holiday season.

Any info appreciated

No info, but we cancelled our annual super bowl trip. Just doesn't seem like it will be the same Vegas and we don't want to waste money to go where activities are restricted.

On the flip side of coin , we're excited about our super bowl trip. I've probably gone 8 of the last 10 years same weekend.

We Have our restaurant rez's and we're going to be driving some exotics at speedway one day. Don't care about clubbing and will do minimal-moderate amounts of gambling.

Didn't see this covered.... but reservations are max four per party. Our group of 8 having to make double reservations and request close proximity

Was there recently (Monday 12/21 to Wednesday 12/23). For more context, I was also there in June 2020, so early-ish in COVID and close to a year after. Notes below:

1. It is more strict and more shutdown than in June. Shows, clubs, and later dinner reservations (think after (9:30 PM Vegas time) were all pretty much no go's.

2. Open: Casinos, pools, some bars, most hotels. This differs from June in that back then, some hotels were straight up closed.

3. It was pretty dead. Much more so than June. I've been to Vegas a few times before Christmas, on Christmas day, and the days after Christmas heading into NYE, and it was kind of a bummer. I'll qualify that by saying the "bummer" is just describing the "Vegas-ness" of it all. It was pretty safe from a COVID standpoint (stricter rules, more mask requirements, temp checks more frequent, spacing enforced) since June. But if you're expecting Vegas, then it's not that right now.

4. I would go if you're good with just gambling, walking around, and eating. I would not go if you're expecting any sort of semblance to regular Vegas. I can't imagine a city more impacted by COVID in terms of "vibes" than Las Vegas, NV. As stated, no shows, no clubs, tables are down on minimums, but not as widely available, restaurants hours are cut, no Chinese/Euros which is really weird, no cigarette smoke if that's your thing, and the strip was just weird/quiet.

Last part though, it's cheap AF right now. So that's obviously a plus.

We went ahead and canceled our trip coming up next week.
Just didn't seem worth going to Vegas with all the restrictions and regulations.
Been to Vegas and don't want to go just to go.

Hoping it will be back closer to normal by June. Group of us have a trip scheduled to hang out and catch up a little.

My wife and I will decide tomorrow between Vegas and Charleston SC for a trip to just run away for a few days for our 1st anniversary. We are leaning Vegas/Stay at Bellagio. Honestly, the deader the hotel/casino is, the better for us IMO... we don't want shows or anything like that... just free drinks, play a little, walk around, and take a day to the Grand Canyon.

In Vegas now. Staying at bellagio. A little bit of a bummer with the table occupancy limits and masks deal but overall I actually like having less of a crowd and having to navigate the 4 per reservation at restaurants. But seems like most stuff is open (other than shows) and we were able to eat at a restaurant without a reservation at a non busy time.

Good to know! Wife and I are the same way in both posts and $10 blackjack sounds perfect!

Well the June trip is just about finalized. Two buddies from the corps and another friend from here in Arkansas. Wives will be in attendance. We decided to try out downtown and all have suites of some sort at the Nugget. We are actually wanting to hit some non-standard places downtown. A few that were mentioned have been Atomic Liquor, the Smoke Wagon Distillery. We are renting a cabana at the pool one day, and not sure if the Grand Canyon is worth killing a full day on.

Any advice on other odd ball things that might be good to hit?

I'd definitely hit up The Mob Museum downtown. I think we killed 3 hours there. Zac Bagans' The Haunted Museum is neat if you're into spooky stuff.

Cool speakeasy underneath that museum.

I looked at the mob museum online yesterday and saw that it had the bar, and I think it has been added to the list.

Has anyone doe the hot air balloons? The limo van to the grand canyon looked good, but not sure it is worth the 12-13 hours that they are showing.

Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming. I think the auto board has convinced us to go drive cars while the girls are at the spa.

Not sure if you're referring to my thread but We did dream racing and it was awesome.
I would buy the warmup laps with one car then 7 laps with your "dream car". We bought 5 and I thought the guy was trying to upsell us but he was right 5 goes way too quick.
