Has anyone been recently? Possibly looking at going in December so curious about if there are shows that are running, other attractions and restaurants that are open.

There's been a couple recentish threads. It's not brand new so the info could have changed for sure, but here's one. https://texags.com/forums/54/topics/3139545

I stumbled across this guys channel on YouTube. I find it more entertaining than it should be.

This guy and his wife live in Vegas and do a lot of casino and hotel videos. A lot of them have been after the reopen. It's sad to see things so empty.

I saw today where Mandalay Bay and Mirage both closed their hotels mid week and will do that thru the end of the year.

I went first weekend of October. Still worth it if you love Vegas.

Not every restaurant is open, but plenty are. Make reservations. No shows.

Lots of people there. Far more than I expected. Mask policy strictly enforced in casinos. I was told a hundred times to pull my mask up.

That, to me, is the real unspoken intent of masks. Do you have any idea how many people are just saying "Screw it, if I have to wear a mask I just won't go"....to Vegas, to lots of places . Heck, to the movies.

Powers that be realize this. Masks work, they don't work, whatever. They don't really know for sure one way or another...or really care. They just know they are somewhat of a psychological agent to keep people home.

We got 2-3 times a year and after we went in June we've decided not to go back until this whole thing is over. I hope the city can rebound when it is because that is a lot of time for businesses to figure out other plans for retreats, industries to figure out better options for conventions and for people to figure out maybe they should save money instead of blowing it in Vegas.

Just canceled my late December trip to the Aria. We didn't want to worry about it shutting down while we were there/before we come. Going to reschedule for March. Hopefully it is much more back to normal by then.

We have one on the books too, but going to wait it out a little longer. See what happens with the Aggies & bowl games too. Good luck!

Been twice recently; late July & early November. Stayed at MGM Grand.

The entire ambiance has changed for the worse, IMO. Lots of visitors that I saw appear to be there only because they got a $99 r/t airfare.

Plenty of spandex on the chubby ones (there were a lot!) and slippers. Just a different crowd altogether.

Casinos pretty dead during the week, and the sportsbook was nothing like past college & NFL football weekends.

For sure. I'm glad people are getting to see Vegas probably for the first time because it's so cheap but the sexy luxurious vibe has left. Atmosphere is terrible. My wife and I still had a nice time relaxing but it was very meh. Would rather go to the Caribbean to relax.

Yep, been there 4 or 5 times this year and the clientele is enough to keep me away (unless I have to go back for work again which is probably 2 weeks away - lots of companies bailing out of California and parking their data center assets in Las Vegas).

Rebooked at the Aria for a 4 night stay the 3rd week of March. Hopefully the atmosphere will turn around by then.

In Vegas now. Staying at Cosmopolitan. Mrs. blindey's choice. Nice property, very little riffraff. People are pretty aggressive about masks while indoors and a lot of people wear them outside on the strip. That issue is easily remedied by keeping your drinking arm occupied. The population is what it always is except that the better-heeled crowd is thinner. The usual $59 airfare/$79 room at the Flamingo crowd is still here in larger numbers than the rest of the population.

At the resort, almost everywhere requires a reservation. They are almost always readily available but you have to make one. More of a nuisance than anything but the government in Nevada has to busy itself making pointless rules to follow.

Table games vary by casino. Some have players physically separated by plexiglass, others just have some seats blocked off. $25/hand or roll is usually the going rate. At the lower end casinos on the strip, you can get $15. All of the casinos seem to at least have a few $15 blackjack tables running.

Number of bums and beggars seems to be down. One annoyance people working sales at places that sell beauty supplies in stores inside casinos have gotten super aggressive. If another one of those idiots shoves another free sample in my face, they're getting punched.

Outside of the overall thinner crowds and the change in proportion between the more well-to-do crowd and the $59 on Sprit Airlines, it feels somewhat normal. The mobs of people that would usually be out cruising the strip are gone but there is still a decent crowd.

After chatting with many people, service and gaming industry workers are fed up with the lockdown and the ones that are still working are just thankful to have jobs.

Overall, not a bad place to go and its nice that lockdown nonsense is fairly well kept in check by the reality that if you alter Vegas into Covid-fanboy land, the tax base gets crushed and the purpose for the town's existence disappears.

Follow up for Sunday night: once the California overnight crowd that was here for Saturday clears out, this place is a ghost town and the strip smells like weed.

Several casinos had swaths of their gaming floors cordoned off and the tables that were operating were generally empty. Seemed like a sad sight for a place that thrives on the service industry.

If you want to do Vegas, I would suggest sooner than later if you think the shutdowns are going to persist because the free government money is going to run out and this will get ugly.

One last thing: the number of visibly completely able bodied people rolling around on rascal scooters is stunning. Really don't understand that. Not talking just people that are old or overweight. Young otherwise fit people.

Funniest thing I've read all day (and the absolute truth).

I'm headed there this afternoon. Most of my time will be spent in a big data center but I'll see what looks different since the last trip.

What's up with that, who are these people? Where are they getting these things at? That's pretty ridiculous. Do they not have those stand-up Birds/Limes or something? Or are these Rascals just sitting around at every corner like the 2-wheeled scooters?

No Bird/Lime scooters. No idea where the rascal scooters are coming from but they are everywhere. Don't want to comment on the typical able-bodied clientele that I saw based on current moderation standards of this website.

Leaving Las Vegas this afternoon.

Current status - bars are open. Restaurants require a reservation which is a bit of a game.
Most places have QR code menus.

I was at the Cosmo last night and we were able to get into one bar (Vesper) but couldn't get into the Chandelier Bar without a reservation even though the place was practically empty and the next available reservation wasn't available for 60 minutes.

It depends. Some of the bars in the casinos did.

But if you rock up to your local bar like PT's or something like that, you can just walk in and grab a seat. Now, when I was leaving a PT's yesterday, I saw a group of 4 people coming in and the hostess was asking them if they had a reservation - even though there were plenty of seats. It's some sort of weird game.

Now the workaround that one of the guys I was with employed at a restaurant was to show up, claim you tried to make a reservation online but you couldn't get the web site to work and could they please seat you now. And the answer is that as long as they've got room, they'll seat you.

its all liberal sheep policy BS.....friends of mine just got back fro Vegas yesterday and he said the mask police are everywhere. His way of showing how stupid they are and worthless is by taking a drag on his vape then pulling his mask up and blowing the smoke straight through his mask.
