For future reference if you are going during the holidays.
We went the after Thanksgiving leaving that Sunday to had to Orlando. We had tix for the after-hours special at MK - Mickey's Holiday Party or something along those lines. They're about $100 each.
The park closes at 7 or 9 (I forget which) for regular guests, and anyone w/the after-hours pass has an arm band. you don't need a ticket for the day to attend the AH event - just a ticket to the event. The park is open until 1am for the event.
you can get in at least an hour ahead of when they say the event starts. When we made it through security Main St was absolutely packed. it felt like Mardi Gras on Bourbon. Once we made it past that however the park was essentially empty.
The Main ST crowd were people that had to clear out by a certain time waiting for the final fire works show of the evening for the regular ticket holders.
It was wild walking up the Peter Pan ride and not waiting 1 second - just walk through the queue and hop on. We did the same for all of the rides - Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and only waited about 3 minutes for the Jungle Cruise only because they were waiting for the boats to get properly spaced.
