I'm in NOLA right now. Are these drinks any better from these places than getting the same ones made at any other upper end bar? I do like me some sazerac.
I can attest that a Pimms Cup purchased anywhere other than Napoleon House, doesn't come close. The cocktail tour is my favorite thing to do in NOLA. Took it a few years ago and our guide (Joe Gendusa) was born in the Quarter. Along with the cocktails, he offered the best history lessons pertaining to the buildings, bars and mixologists. Napoleon House was my favorite. The building has a rich history and is so typical of NOLA. It is a Spanish building, built for a French emperor (who died before he could live there), owned by a German family that features a British cocktail. The entire tour was filled with little tidbits like this. Arnaud's, Antoine's, Tujaques, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shoppe. Damn, now I need to go back.
