Mid July, planning a trip to Yellowstone. I'll be staying in West Yellowstone. I'd like to fly into Bozeman and out of Jackson. Any ideas on how much a one way car rental will cost? Or any other potential challenges to pulling that off?

I flew in to Bozeman, stayed a few days. Rented a small SUV and drove to and flew out of Pocatello, ID. No problems - incredible drive. See the pics: Here.

I am going to Yellowstone in mid July too. We are taking the long route. We are flying into Rapid city SD, spending a few days at Mt Rushmore, Jewel cave, then enjoying a nice drive to Yellowstone via Devils tower. Eastern Entrance.

When we exit we will go out the north and drive thru MT and go see Little Big Horn and then end up on a dino dig back in South Dakota. Then fly back out of Rapid City.

I know it is long and a lot of driving, but we are taking 10 days to do this. Should be fun.

Are you camping in yellowstone or staying at one of the lodges?

are you planning on eating at the Alpine Inn in Hill City, SD? I would recommend that. (to MD1993)

Kayak is your friend. We are going July 1st. Flying into Billings, over Beartooth Hwy to Silver Gate for two nights. Then to Old Faithful Inn, Lake Hotel, and to Cody the last night to see the museum before we head back to Billings.

MidnightYell, we may to try it out. Sounds right up my alley from the reviews and menu. Simple.

My wife has flown out of Jackson Hole twice, and in once. The view is spectacular. The airport is at the base of the Teton Mountains. Once, the pilot was ahead of schedule and flew completely around the Teton range. That was her first time to see the Tetons and she still talks about it some 40 years later.
