I think this race is over. With Ohtani on the DL, this is PCA's award this year. He'll probably finish with a 40/40 year, maybe even 45/45 and that along with the elite defense makes it pretty much a no-brainer.
The baseball fan in me wishes that Ohtani had stayed healthy and on the mound because then this would turn into one of the really great debates, maybe like what we had between Trout and Cabrera several years ago.
PCA also has a chance to set the all time record for most strikeouts in an MVP year. Right now Ohtani has the top two years (189 is the record).
Kind of a cross-over with our other thread, but I really doubt many Cubs fans are that concerned with the K's considering what PCA brings to the table.
He's coming for the HR crown now....he's one back of Schwarber
We were joking that all the extra base hits were going to keep him from getting to 40 SB.....but that is actually starting to be a baby bit of a concern!
Went to last night's game and saw him get steal #39.
There have been 3 players in history that were Top 5 in HRs, steals, and triples. The most recent, as mentioned above, was some guy named Willie Mays. The one before that… Honus Wagner.
