This team is so weird. They look like legitimate contenders against most of the good teams they've played and then they look like total crap against bottom dwellers. I don't get it.

You lose this game, you have to fire Skip immediately after or you're not a serious franchise

Hard to say... maybe this was CY's plan?!

Maybe we're in tank mode and deGrom knew he was too broken to get traded, but in the end, we are working the Draft for next year.

I'm not very competitive at the high end. I don't hate losing enough to be elite. But, god... I hate... despise... giving up. It is the worst!

Selling at the Trade Deadline to me is such a character flaw to give up on yourself. You are a quitter ... on yourself.

I remember as a Sophomore in HS. I was 5'4"/150 and played OL. The JV coach wanted to get me to quit, so he had the #1 OL... a guy 6'2"/225 and knew everything about PEDs even though he denied using. The guy was a physical beast. We lined up head-to-head and "fired" off the ball at the coach's command. He drug my dick in the dirt repeatedly. 10... 15 times he just mowed me over and the coach barked, "you ready to quit?"

"Nope. I'm just getting started to wear him out." You'd get the bark at the beast "If you don't fire off the ball, you're losing your starting position."

In the end, like Monty Python, I was just getting warmed up, even as I couldn't pick myself up off the ground.

I hate people who quit.

Catcher is a really big need on this team. Jansen and Higgy injuries have been rather large

With 2027 almost certainly being lost, the Rangers are about to be terribad. They have almost no farm system. Major league talent is very mid at best. Old players that can't stay healthy and aren't good anymore…and of course, zero development of starting pitchers for the top of the rotation. We pray for Rocker and Leiter to be the answers but nothing has suggested it's gonna happen here. And when they go somewhere else and become Nick Martinez or Joaquin Benoit for someone in the ASG or playoffs, we will all just wonder why we can't do it here. Same story, different decade.

Thank God for 2023

Lol, not sure why you are on this thread then. And for this team, right about now is when they will go on a 8-2 streak over the next 10 games.

I grew up watching a lot of bad Ranger baseball, so giving up isn't really in my DNA. Usually by now, they were 10+ games out of playoff contention. This year, for all of their faults, they are still in the mix.

I musta missed the rules here that you cant complain about a flawed team for back to back seasons…… hell the only reason i wasnt on here complaining about the 80's Rangers is because…… well this wasnt here to complain. I can be a fan and still admit this team sux and the only reason they are a stones throw out is because the rest of the division also smells like a 6 month olds diaper also!
this team is a gutless wonder and most of them are stealing their paychecks.

Most of these folks said the same **** in 2023. This team is in the thick of playoff hunt, even with a loss tonight. I genuinely don't understand how some of yall have not figured out how a baseball season works.

The Rangers aren't playing like winners with a postseason appearance on the line. The last two weeks have been brutal, and for the season, have essentially played .500 ball. Is this how baseball works?
gigem1223
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And yet only a .5 game out of the playoffs. Just make the dance and hope you get hot at the right time. This team has pieces to do that.

You are hilarious. You act like I'm the only person here who says anything negative about this team and how they play,

We can all watch and hope they win and figure something out but be honest with yourself, this is NOTHING like the 23 club you just mentioned. That team was 40-20 at one point with a ridiculously positive run differential. This team has an RD of -46. That is the biggest indicator of how good you really are. There are no reinforcements coming. Sometimes you can sit back and say, "this group just sucks" and that's ok! I still scoreboard watch with hopes they'd win the division. I make a comment the team leading the division comes back and beats the third place team in extras. That's how a baseball season works. We don't play them anymore so to pass them the rangers need them to lose. It's pretty simple.

Now I'm going to continue to watch, I'll continue to post, when positive things happen I'll comment, when negative I'll comment. Maybe just go ahead and mute me if I bother you so much.

Fair point on the run differential but no reinforcements coming?

Josh Jung
Jakob Junis
Danny Jansen
Higgy

We're gonna disagree on these for sure. IMO, only Jung will truly help IF he stays healthy and IF he hits at the clip he did prior to the calf injury. This offense was moving then but the dude can't stay on the field and unless I missed it, there still is no timetable.

Junis was good but I don't truly think he changes the bullpen.

Catching just seems like a black hole… Diaz's D is bad. Wynns offense is non existent. Can either higgy or janson make it THAT much better to change games? Last I heard higgy is still on the shelf awhile. Janson rehabbing caught two innings, dh'd then supposed to catch Leiter this weekend (today maybe?) his bat is 100x better than the two we have now but is that saying much?

I have hope leiter is more like 25 than 26 Jack now that the foot/ ankle is healthy but need to see it long term.

I just think there are TOO MANY holes and we don't have enough flex seal to do it.

Nicky Lopez magic has worn off. He was .330 and has dropped 60 points, seager is getting there but he can't run to save his life, zeke is playing great D and hitting really well, burger is burger. He will get hot at times and punish a ball like last night or look like my seven year old and step the third base box and miss a pitch by ten feet.
Wyatt has been off since fouling two balls off his foot and I think it's just in between the ears now. Carter is playing good D still but the bat is just whoaful, Nimmo is hitting and getting on base but he looks old and slow in right. Joc has been a revelation at the plate but is a liability in the field so he HAS to DH.

I don't know what to make of the bullpen. Latz is Latz and ahlstrom has been great since the break. Gray has been solid as well. The problem is starters are going five and length is needed every night because for some reason they won't let starters go over 100 pitches. Now degrom is out, Monty hasn't been good over two appearances, Evo is out, rocker is wildly inconsistent, Bradford is on a pitch count.

All that to say in 23 your reinforcements were Chapman, an over the hill sherzer that was a bulldog and refused to lose, and Austin Hedges (a great cheerleader that seemed to awaken the clubhouse.) I just don't see this clicking. I hope I'm wrong and eat crow but I don't see it.

Saw on twitter yesterday someone say they wished will clark was on this team because he'd lose it and show some emotion. I'm not a drop f bombs and break stuff guy especially when it comes to baseball because it IS such a marathon with ebbs and flows but is there anyone to lead and step up to challenge these guys in the clubhouse? I don't know but it doesn't seem like it.

I will say this about Jansen or Higgy:

Even if their bat doesn't play, the defense (mainly throwing) will be a huge upgrade. Including last night, our catchers have consistently over thrown 2nd base and led to the other team scoring runs. A few weeks ago, I can't remember who we were playing, but we had multiple errant throws in a series that led to runs.

I need to go back and look at the throw to third last night. I dont remember, but how did Zeke play it? Did he hold the bag and not make the catch on a bad throw? Or did he come off the bag and not make the catch on a bad throw? Either way, Diaz's throws, and defense in general, are lacking. Wynns is as bad or worse. I think Jansen and/or Higgy would be a massive improvement behind the plate.

To be fair... it was CY who **** all over this team by trying to trade deGrom two weeks ago when the team was in the WC3 spot.

The reason the fans have the attitude isn't because they don't know how a baseball season works. It is because we know how Rangers baseball works.

I'm in it until we are officially eliminated. I think we can make a run this season, but the way the team is playing indicates real problems.

Sorry for quoting my own post, but Zeke made a good effort on the play but was never making that catch, even if he was 7 foot tall. I knew the throw was bad, but didn't realize until now how bad it was.
