If they get Ward (for example) they may add another bat but I would expect it to be a lefty. We will see.

Why not? He'd be a clear #3 on this team.

I would take Detmers all day. LHP, low BB rate, WHIP 1.10.

They've coveted Detmers for a while now.

I think that says more about our rotation than the current iteration of Robbie Ray. He has good top line results but is a candidate for extreme regression. He's not striking many out and walking a lot of guys.

I was poring over Yordan stats in the middle of the night and I came up with this.

Yordan currently leads the AL in: runs, hits, homers, RBI, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and batting average.

The last time that was achieved for a full season by one person?

59 years ago by Carl Yastremski in 1967 when he won the Triple Crown. His final numbers were quite similar to Yordan's current paces: 112 runs, 189 hits, 44 HR, 121 RBI, .326/.418/.622.

Before that? It's only been done five other times.

Were we to aquire a legit LF or CF I'd have Yordan dh'ing almost every game and I'd play Allen at 2B at least 2- 3 x a week. I don't think Jose' is 100% healthy . Let Altuve play 40-50% of the games at 2B and DH maybe once a week unless/until he shows signs of breaking out of being a grounder to the left infield machine . That serves several purposes including trying to get him 100% for a playoff run , taking most of the fielding injury risks off Yordan, and is a likely + from both a runs scored and runs allowed perspective. He'll push back for sure but this isn't about giving up on him but trying to optimize W's and getting him right for the playoffs.

Trammell has shown he can continue to get on base. Maybe he is finally putting it together. The BA isn't there, but the guy consistently puts together good ABs. He has and OBP of .329 this year and a 105 OPS+. I think he is fine to stay in center. Get a corner OF.

anecdotally, Jose and CW have played much better this year following rest days. Jose could definitely use a more part time role, which would be fine, we just need more of a Aledmys Diaz/Marwin type behind him vs a pure defensive player like Allen (he's been a decent singles hitter at times at least)
