Looks like we found our key to victory. As long as Yordan and Pena hits jacks every jacks every game we're unstoppable!

There has been a lot of chatter with the talking heads about trading Hader, which, for whatever reason, seems to be the guy deemed most likely. On the one hand, his salary is a misallocation of resources for a team that is struggling to get above .500 and could use that money to be more active in free agency in the offseason. On the other hand, it's hard to envision a scenario where trading him isn't effectively throwing in the towel this year, which just begs the question of why stop there? Also, Hader has negative trade value per the trade simulator because of his huge salary, so realistically getting anything of value is effectively a win (just something to keep in mind). Here are the potential trade partners I've heard about and I will speculate on what may make sense:

Phillies - They are near where he's originally from so seems like somewhere he would be willing to waive the no trade clause for. The Phillies have a poor farm system, arguably worse than ours post draft, but I think there are two potential pieces. One is could we be interested in Kerkering? He walks a bit too much but throws hard and gives up a lot of soft contact. I don't know if the Phillies would do that but it seems like the best option for us because Kerkering could potentially just take over as your closer. Its a downgrade but arguably not a huge one and may free up enough payroll this year for a bigger move.

Cubs - First, no clue if he would waive the no trade. That said, the Cubs have dealt with a lot of bullpen injuries and could use some stability. It would be aiming high but if you could get Pedro Ramirez I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. He has no space / role on that team as a 3B / 2B now or in the next several years. He was raking in the minors and advanced metrics so far in the bigs are very solid. He would take over at 3B for you this year and would allow you to then move Paredes at the trade deadline (maybe for some pitching). So here is an example of that two step process:

Cubs trade Ramirez for Hader (maybe we eat salary the rest of this year)
Red Sox trade Bennett and Guerrero for Paredes

Ramirez becomes your 3B, Guerrero becomes a leverage reliever, and Bennett gives you the extra SP you need. Just as importantly, all 3 have a lot of control (though Guerrero is older) so maybe you feel better about trading a prospect or two for a LF (Bleday?).

I love me some Yordan. He's got potential to be an inner-circle HOFer. But I see no reason to do anything yet, with 3 years left and his injury history. When 2028 rolls around, we can offer the end of career kind of contract that Altuve got. He'll hit FA at "32".

With my glasses off I read this as extend Yordan immediately to 2050 and thought "sounds good"

The next 2 series should be interesting. The White Sox have their top 2 starters going the next 2 games and in the 3rd they get to hit Blanco. Whatever Blanco may be one this year, making his second start after TJ against the White Sox as a flyball pitcher isn't ideal. Then the Angels are a team we need to be winning series against but we will have to face their two best starters in Detmers and Urena.

Any guesses to how long this winning streak could go? Looking over at Boston thinking it's possible… But of course I could also see this team falling flat on its face tomorrow night as if they had no positive momentum

2-2 split in that series would be ideal as long as we win this next series. If we lose the CWS series then just hope for 4-0 Seattle and they can run away with the division.

We need a 4-2 road trip at worst with the Angels series included.

run scoring environment is night/day in 2026 vs mid-90s. It's home run or bust for most teams now.
