In those 13 games, Paredes is 11/44 with only 5 BB, 4 2B and 0 HR.

Yordan's struggles are tied to the guy behind him.

The zero HRs isn't good, but 11 for 44 is a .250 BA.
That's pretty similar to Paredes' season .255 BA - which is his career best.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/paredis01.shtml

4 doubles is outstanding. If he hit that rate over just 143 games he'd have 44 doubles, which would have been tied for 2nd in MLB last season (his career high is 25).

5 walks in 49 PAs is a 10.2% walk rate (better than his 9.3% on the season). All of our other regulars other than Yordan have less than a 9.0% BB rate.

Really all of those numbers are fine to superb for purposes of our sticks except for the HR drought, which is admittedly a pretty big component.

Rewatching that 10th inning, I actually think Eschenfelder … kind of did a good job last night?

Getting the W kinda make me to forget the blown call by the 1st base ump in the 1st inning that cost us 2 runs.

He'll be back tonight but behind the plate.

No he didn't. He also talked over Blum completing his joke about afternoon delight and calling it late night delight. Can't stand that pompous dweeb.

Not like I want to have him around generally. But I thought his calls of the Varsho hit and Walker homer were exciting and no worse than the fairly generic stuff TK would've done.

What leads you to believe that? Crane fired Click after the Astros won the WS.

He did a good job for Eschenfelder, which is like saying that wasn't the worst smelling dump you ever took.

Even the chronically unhappy posters have to admit that this is a lot of fun.

Fire sales rarely work out. We would have traded all these guys for crap just like the Tigers did for Verlander and so on. It's going to have to happen eventually, but we are looking at years of struggle and I'm not ready for that yet. I'll take overachieving and a lottery ticket in the postseason any day over the alternative.

Yeah. Insane but they seemingly continue to think that two things are an absolute certainty and both are far from:

- If this team makes the playoffs they're ass and don't stand a chance. Never know what will happen if you get there.

- a fire-sale would result in a solid rebuild and we'd have another solid run ahead of us. This is far from certain. And think these posters would also think that as they all seemingly hate and don't trust crane and Dana.

I our defense, the one move Dana made at the deadline is hitting .139 since he joined the Astros and the guy Crane kept us from trading away did his very best to lose the game in the 8th last night. So it isn't completely nuts to not have much confidence in those two while we celebrate being the tallest midget in the AL West.

I will say that as hard as this version of the Astros is to watch after what we saw from 2017-22, it was very apparent to me this morning that here they are over .500 again while the Rags went from a Linsanity run WS (that no one watched) back into obscurity and the Mariners couldn't even sustain meaningful success beyond one season. It does put into perspective the rarity of having a team at least competent enough to stay in the race for a decade straight.

So see point two. You think this team doesn't have a chance and use the move and blocked move as examples of bad management. But you trust them to sell and rebuild?

No one is replicating what the Dodgers are doing, even the Yankees. The Mets have proved yet again that money alone is hardly a guarantee. Baltimore failed spectacularly with their rebuild (to your point), Detroit couldn't do it, and mid teams like San Diego and Toronto flamed out before the finish line. I guess Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Tampa are the model franchises right now, with the White Sox trying to slow-burn themselves into the discussion. So, as with most every franchise this side of the La Brea tarpits, it's give yourself a chance and hope for a miracle run like the Rangers and Nationals. Otherwise, we wait for the next Luhnow to ride in on Haley's Comet.

No. I wanted Dana fired after last season. I wish Crane would sell the team. But neither of those means I am not happy when the team wins and don't want them to surprise me by winning it all this year. I am also realistic enough to know that while we are seeing surprising success for what appears to be a deeply flawed roster, that doesn't mean the flaws aren't still there. Those flaws will grow when Pena and Brown walk away to the highest bidder over the next two years and we are left with two draft picks at most. We have some guys that appear to be developing well at the A and AA levels, but it would be nice to have several more cherry picked from other teams to supplement them and give us hope for another long term juggernaut in 2028/2029 and beyond.

What makes you think I am not happy we are winning and doing better than expected after the way we started the season? But that happiness doesn't blind me to the team's flaws and the fact that the architects of those flaws are still making the decisions.
