I noticed it yesterday when that ground ball got through to his left that he would have stopped and made the play at first a few years ago.

Altuve missed time with an oblique injury and came back in an unheard of amount of time. I'm not convinced that he's 100% healthy.

For me, nothing would top off a great weekend like a sweep of the rangerettes.

True but he's also at an age where he is just going to have aches and pains a lot. I put a lot of it on Joe because he should be resting at least once a week.Booma94 said:

Was he a rental? That would have been a good get in a position of need. I think Abreu has it figured out since he started throwing a cutter and I think they overworked King this year so he may be gassed.

The biggest lineup problem we have on this team offensively is that the two guys most consider untradeable both should be playing at DH. I personally think putting Altuve at DH and Yordan at LF minimizes the impact better by taking one bad bat out of the OF, but the organization just doesn't seem willing to do that. Right now though, Altuve's hitting isn't justifying his poor defense at 2B. He needs more days off to get his hitting right.

Speaking on Sunday morning from the Astros' trade deadline war room at Daikin Park, general manager Dana Brown reiterated the team does not want to part with anyone on its major-league roster while expressing confidence in a farm system many outside publications have labeled as one of baseball's worst.
"We do have the (prospect) capital," Brown told the team's pregame radio show. "We do not want to pull from our major-league team. We have a good core. We got a good group going right now and the team is playing very well. Everyone is settling into their role. We'd like to keep it like that and not pull from our major-league team."
The Athletic reported on Saturday that Houston has told at least two teams it had no intention of trading from its major-league roster and would pursue deals centered around prospects. Before the season, The Athletic's Keith Law ranked the Astros' farm system 28th out of 30 teams.
On Sunday, Brown did acknowledge that there could be "someone on your 40-man (roster) that's not in the major leagues going out the door." Though Brown did not specify who, logical candidates could include pitchers Miguel Ullola and Alimber Santa as well as outfielders Zach Cole and Joey Loperfido.
Houston's focus remains on upgrading its lineup, but is also involved in the starting pitching market, according to multiple sources granted anonymity for their candor to discuss ongoing negotiations.

at this point I hope we dont buy anything other than an expiring salary dump OF bat for a throwaway prospect. Were unlikely to compete for a world series but all you have to do is get to October.... see 2019 and 2021 WS Champs

Freddy Peralta to the rays
The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring right-hander Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets, sources tell ESPN. Rays get their starter, who joins Drew Rasmussen, Shane McClanahan and Nick Martinez in one of the American League's best rotation. First on news was @WillSammon.
