Well, you have to look at his career stats against Kikuchi too. He is 3/12 with 2 HRs and a 1.000 OPS lifetime against Kikuchi. Espada Analytics, Inc says you pull him from this matchup because he is bound to have a bad game against him eventually.

Vazquez was arguably the worst catcher in baseball last year. Yainer was significantly better.

If we are being honest, how valuable is that experience? If he's no longer good, and Salazar provides a left handed bat...

A second catcher will play 40 plus games. That's a lot of ABs.

You can check my math but I'm guessing 2-3 per game due to pinch hit situations, so 80-120 ABs in those starts?

But yes, I'd probably rather have Salazar get most of those

Oh I don't know. In my expert opinion Salazar would have been a perfectly fine backup catcher.

I was more pointing to the fact that we're already calling for Vazquez to start over Yanier.

Not ready to go there after 1 game.

I'm saying a backup catcher starts 40 games a year and gets 160 plus ABs. Thats barring injuries to the primary catcher.

Yeah, I'm with you. I basically don't respond to that knee-jerk, but I also didn't get a chance to question the Vasquez/Salazar decision, previously.

Yainer will probably be a 20+, low average, decent rbi, high-ish K player. Which I think is fine for a 7 or 8 hole hitter.

A buddy of mine worked for the Rockets, and thus the Comets, the first year they had a team in '97. I went to their first-ever title game with the NY team.

When I went to the bathroom, not only was there no line in the men's room, there were zero other men at all.
