I would have been surprised to see Crane offer 7 years to a pitcher not named Hunter Brown.

So what is the story there? He practicing better framing? Or practicing not tipping the pitch location with an early glove position?
Guessing it's not so much tipping but more so to not give the umpire an expectation of where to look for a pitch.

I'd give Hunter Brown that Cease deal right now.
I like Jake. I think he is a .275, 15 HR guy at his ceiling. He worked at hitting over last winter, so hopefully he can build on that. His homers are not cheapies, so hopefully he can hunt pitches he can drive better

My only worry is with him bringing the glove up to the frame point, is he going to prevent his pitchers from getting the borderline bottom of the strike zone calls since it looks like he is pulling the pitch up at the catch point?
I'm sure one the stat gurus can find it but IIRC it seems like Jake hits the ball hard at a good clip.
There are some line drive that he absolutely mashes. I can remember one laser he hit off the CF wall on the fly that was incredibly impressive.

As @brianmctaggart mentioned, righty Ryan Weiss is in agreement with the Houston Astros after returning from 2 productive years in the KBO. The deal guarantees him $2.6 million for 2026, sources tell ESPN. There's also an option for '27. He could make over $10 mil over the 2 yrs

This tracks. Framber is probably looking at 5-6 years at 25-27 AAV. Suarez is probably just behind him 6-7 years at 20-24 M.

It's a big risk if we don't. I understand reenforcing through #s (Weiss, JV, etc) but eventually you will get burned without the high-end arms anchoring the rotation.
They're going to be very aggressive and take big swings. Obviously - it still requires finding the right team to trade with so nothing is guaranteed. But they're trying.
