if LL would adapt and play real baseball it could retain more of its talent. Unfortunately it does absolutely nothing to prepare a young man for high school baseball. move to 70 ft bases, open them up and move the fences back 40 ft for 12u

The distance between base paths on fields for 12-year-olds and below in baseball and in all divisions of softball is 60 feet. A local Little League board of directors may opt to use a 50-foot diamond in the Tee Ball divisions. The distance in all divisions of baseball for 13-year-olds, is up to 90 feet, with a local league option to shorten the distance to 75 feet for Junior League Baseball and 70 feet for Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division for regular season play.

Not following what you're saying- USSSA, Perfect Game, PONY, etc all go to 50/70 at 11U & 12U. 13U is mostly 54/80 while some play 60/90. 14U and up is the big boy field at 60/90.

Thats from Little League operating manual regarding field dimensions

And I think most of us are saying that those field dimensions are too small for 12U. Ironically, going to 60/90 at 13U is too big for most 13U.

During my time as a LL president I was frustrated with the field dimensions, as TBall to Majors played on the same field, and then we threw our 13 year olds to the HS field to play juniors.

When the 50/70 division was introduced in 2010 I volunteered our league to participate, and we used out adult softball field, 275 ft to the foul lines, portable mound, and all dirt infield to play our games.

I also coached PONY teams, and found the 54/80 field dimensions to be acceptable for 13 and 14 year olds.

you mean you don't like seeing 12 year olds throwing 68+ mph mow down kids from 46 ft?

I love the kids scoring on passed balls that skip a few feet from the catcher or routine ground outs to 2B that become base hits for fast 12 year olds. 60 feet bases is just hard to not laugh at with 11/12U & yeah most people don't realize how much that 4 ft of distance changes things as a pitcher & hitter.

And mow the Massachusetts kids can go back to preparing for hockey season.

We lost out in a 1-0 game to a kid throwing 74-75. We've faced him a lot in select and had success against him. I've never seen him throw that many strikes, but he pitched the game of his life against us.

It is kind of crazy that the fastest pitching(reaction time) a kid will ever see until college, is when they are 12 yrs old playing LL distances.

Oklahoma kicked out of the Regional. They were in the championship. Losers bracket championship turned into the championship played today with Boerne winning to advance.

Jesus. Nobody has EVER accused a baseball coach or player of being the smartest people on earth, but in this day and age, what superiority complex must one have to think they can get away with cheating like this!?!?

The only thing that even remotely makes sense here is that the judge believes the player was wrongly ruled ineligible, right? Even still, Boerne's best pitchers won't be available due to their now obsolete game against Louisiana.
Someone has really messed up here.

Boerne isn't even in Waco any more. They're not playing tonight.

Which is the way it should be. Unfortunately, the activist judge decided to insert himself into something he probably knows nothing about. Boerne should not play and little league should not bend to the judge or the oklahoma team. They did their investigation after multiple protests and made a ruling. Stick with it and move on.

I can't read the article in the tweet without a subscription, and I don't know how restraining orders work, but the tweet says the restraining order "allows" Tulsa to play in the championship game, not that the championship game has to be played. No idea whether or not that makes a difference.

What a mess

If I am piecing things together correctly, Tulsa took advantage of a loophole that allowed a player to play outside of his designated area if he had a sibling that participated in the Challenger (special needs)games, which I assume are not available at every LL?

Does that seem accurate?

yep - trash league.

All kinds of violations on this team, apparently.

Cooking up a Challenger sibling relationship (who might not even be eligible to play in Challenger) when you don't have a Challenger league, and also the sibling rule doesn't apply to Challenger.

Signing up a team of select kids and drafting them to teams, then them not playing in enough games to be eligible for the tourney. Cooking the books with gamechanger to make it look like they played, then getting busted because your gamechanger showed pitchers breaking LL pitching rules, so they tried to edit the gamechanger.

trash league run by corrupt people who were apparently also the district and state administrators - so they people who cooked the books were the same ones who checked the eligibility for their district and state tournaments.

They are so it's really on the adults. But the kids know at least a little bit.

That being said, what boy who plays baseball hasn't dreamed of playing in the LLWS?

Coming from a district in SoCal where we've had 3 leagues go to/win the LLWS, all I can say is LL is only rivaled by FIFA. If you aint cheating, you aint trying, and LL only cares when it hits the news

It's really sad for the OTHER kids on the Little League team (Tulsa) that got disqualified - but that program/organization only has itself to blame.

The father lied on forms regarding both of his kids - apparently even blamed a special needs sibling and nobody with the team/league verified anything.

This is on them. Rules are rules.

Sucks for the innocent little boys... but there are life lessons here.

This is about the father's SECOND child, also bogus ("O.G." is the main point of the story, the kid who had a false birthdate) :

Quote:

The motion also said O.G.'s father registered O.G.'s sibling as a 7-year-old in the Challenger Division. The filing said that the father "confirmed directly" to a Little League official that the sibling "is actually 10 years old."

The motion added: "This age misrepresentation rightfully disqualifies the sibling from the under-8 open enrollment provision, which in turn renders O.G. ineligible to play for Tulsa National under Little League's rules."

Bro, you even lied about your second child, who was 10 and put in an under-8 league?

This is probably the best thing to happen to LL. Make an example out of Tulsa for recruiting out of area. Hopefully going forward they make it more of a point of emphasis that any players playing on teams they shouldn't be on will lead to the DQ of the entire team. It sucks for the kids because the adults let them down but this needed to happen to try and reign in the process. I also guarantee that lots of other teams in this tournament are using their own OGs as well.

I obviously don't know the details, but I doubt this is a case of a one dad pulling the wool over a whole chapter's eyes. Other people had to know.

These kids play together a long time before the team is put together for LLWS run.
