That's a lot of dough to hit 260 with 25 home runs.

The deferrals on the Alex Bregman deal are significant -- the present-day value of his contract is expected to be assessed in the range of $90 million for three years.

Its a worse deal but it's clear he wanted to reach free agency again with fallback protection. If he has a big year then being a free agent without a QO should help him a lot. He could wind up getting $160+M with the $40M he made this year. That said, if he has another year like 2024 he'll just be a year longer in the tooth and further from 2019.DallasAg 94 said:
Am I getting this correct?!
$5M - Signing bonus
$15M - 2025
$20M - 2026
$20M - 2027
$20M - 2025
$20M - 2036
$20M - 2037
Does that sound like a better deal than Houston offered?! I look at that as someone who took far less.
Hope he fails in Boston.
except there is not interest on the money, so inflation will eat away at that number. The Original Houston 1836 said:
Making $20 million at age 42 and 43 for doing nothing, as you'll presumably be retired, seems like a pretty sweet deal.
But what other job could he possibly have that would pay him $20 m at age 42 and 43?Bag said:except there is not interest on the money, so inflation will eat away at that number. The Original Houston 1836 said:

$1,000,000 in 2015 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $1,331,571.15 today.
is he set for life? yes.
Is the purchasing power on his $20m way less in 12 years? yes.
