This is one of the downsides of a one year pact. You can't piss off your start player that is going to be around awhile for a new guy who might be gone in 6 months. You have to manage the people, not just the stats. They should have also already known what type of character (or lack thereof) Devers has given he has been there for 8 years.

Guillorme is an ok LHH, but Rodgers is a plus defender. Looking at career stats, Rodgers has higher WAR and several other stats.
