That's mine.

Did they not include Altuve because he would be everyone's number 1?
He's not a former Astro

I put Verlander number one because he won two Cy Young awards

Not going to Lie Bregman is the only every day player there for both WS…

Bregman
Verlander (there for both but lesser role as a pitcher)
Springer
Correa
Tucker

I would have thought he would have played 3B and Paredes to 2B

Brendan Rodgers can be the .250-260 hitter at second then Dubon doesn't have to play there every day. Really good defense and ok bat. Addresses the real offensive short coming in the OF

I don't disagree and if he doesn't hit to start the season I would rather he not take his frustration out at 3B. But I would also rather him play something he knows how to play.

So. What's the chance Smith starts in RF and Dana gets lucky and lands Arenado for a reasonable price? That would be one hell of a last minute change.

I view Smith the same as I look at Kiel with the Aggies. If you got the goods, you got it. The fact that Smith goes the other way and takes his walks tells me he's got this. Really excited to see him in RF, and I seriously doubt he will look lost out there.

I tend to agree that these super athletic, high level baseball players can pick up OF relatively quickly.

I don't have too much pause about Altuve. I wouldn't be overly concerned about Cam Smith in RF on his own.

HOWEVER, two players playing the OF for the first time simultaneously does raise some red flags for me.

The great low-key site astrosdaily.com is back online after being down for more than a year.

Here's an excerpt from this day in Astros' history from March 9 that tells you just how good this fan base is having it.

1987 - A sign of things to come. Astros lose their home spring opener to Montreal, 19-3. Bob Knepper and Jeff Heathcock are knocked silly before the bullpen comes to the rescue. Five Houston errors worsen the mood. Knepper would slump from a 17-12 1986 season to 8-17 the next year, his ERA climbing by over two runs.

Not sure how many of you guys are old enough to remember the 86 to 87 transition that well, but it was a monumental letdown. Not sure if we've had one as bad since other than 99 to 00.

After losing to the Mets in the NLCS, the 87 team started 6-0 , sweeping the Dodgers and the Expos at home. They were still 5 games over at the halfway point (43-38), then totally fell apart with a 9-18 September and wound up 76-86. Have to remind myself sometimes that 30 years ago, a 88-73 season would have been a god send.

So I guess there is a chance.

Let this be a lesson for all of us to not speak in absolutes... unless you're discussing Alex Cintron (lol).
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.
