Walkoff double today. Remembering what position a player played in a given year gets confusing when you gotta go back now 20 years.

Walk off homerun for me. I can see where you could have gotten 2 mixed up between IF and OF. I had to really think about the differences between 04 and 05 and then figured it out that way.
Walkoff Double for me. I got confused on Berkman and Chris Burke. I thought Lance was still primary OF in 2005, so I got that one wrong the first time.

Yeah, I had a brain fart and was thinking for some reason that Burke was an infielder and that threw everything off for me.
All I do is Nguyen

I almost did that as well before I remembered a certain big injury that year.

05 Astros are among the most bizarre WS teams of the last 75 years or so. Got huge out-of-nowhere efforts from Ensberg, Lane, and Taveras, and of course Burke in the playoffs, and then all of them were out of baseball within a few years despite all being in their 20s at the time they were with the Astros. Lane materialized as a pitcher briefly for the Padres in 2014, but otherwise he was done in 2007, Ensberg's last year was '08 with the Yankees. He hit 36 HR in 05 and finished fourth for MVP. Taveras was traded to Colorado for one of our He Who Must Not be Named pitchers in '06, led the league in steals in 08 and was out of baseball in 2010. Burke had an everyday job with the Astros for most of 06 and 07, was decent in 06, bad in 07, and out of baseball after 09.

Pitching was unreal, of course Probably best 1-3 outside of prime Smoltz/Glavine/Maddux and the bullpen was ridiculous as well before Pujols killed Brad Lidge, but that offense, so weird.

Swallowed buzzers containing steroids.

So weird yet so satisfying beating Atlanta again and getting payback on St. Louis.

The 2004 Astros definitely could've beaten the 2005 White Sox but probably not the 2004 Red Sox.

Isaac, Gamel, and Walker worked their counts. Yanier, Chas, and Dubon swung at every pitch.

If memory serves, Yanier grounded into 347 double plays last year. 340 of them of them on the first pitch of the at-bat

We will get the new guys trained in how we do things soon enough. I have confidence in Cintron and Snitker.

Guys who are free swingers over the course of their careers aren't just going to suddenly change in the first week of ST.

Especially not with Cintron and Snitker coaching them from the dugout every at bat...

Joe's comments about changing the hitting approach this year confirmed to me last year's approach was organizationally driven. I actually do think we'll see an improvement in this area this year from guys who are not naturally free swingers.

Yanier and Dubon are free swingers. They're gonna let that bat fly, and I don't expect it to change much for them.

Yanier makes hard enough contact I will live with it but Dubon is a slappy. There's 0 reason to tolerate a slappy who can't even work a count.
