Sent Kate over to his house to ask for it. She came back with the number and his car.

it was in a losing effort, but Billy Hatcher's foul pole dinger in 86 off Orosco in the 14th inning was a memorable postseason homer.

Oof. Skipped class at A&M to attend that game. I haven't been to an Astros postseason game since. I won't do it.

I skipped a class in order to go to 2015 ALDS Game 4. Ended up missing a pop quiz worth 10% of my grade

Had to watch that collapse in person while trying to calculate how to salvage my already rough grade in that class
You can always retake a class. You can never re-attend a game.

I never want to re-attend that game… massive choke job

Sounds like it is time for the stros to point at their watch in front of Bregman and let him know their offer is going to start declining $1M per day and 1 year per week starting today.

Good. I never wanted to pay Bregman for longer than 3 years without a club option beyond that. If somebody out there is going to exceed what we offered, I think they are overpaying and will regret the contract 3-4 years from now.

I see these posts a lot and I totally get but if you have a history of arm injuries, moving to the bullpen is actually harder on your arm
Yes. Especially for a breaking ball guy.

However, also easier on an aging body.

Gonna be one of those deals where Alex is gonna regret not taking the Astros offer and whatever team signs him will regret the contract.

So we are really gonna roll with the worst outfield in major league baseball and hope for the best?

I know hope is a poor strategy, but I refuse to believe Chas will be as bad in 2025 as he was in 2024. That is still an improved OF from last year (not counting when Tucker was healthy).

They've been working the trade market. I still wouldn't be surprised if they made a move soon, though the asking price for OFers with team control is quite high.

I'm old enough to remember when the Astros were perceived to have a glut of talent in the OF and there wasn't enough room on the roster to give guys at Sugar Land a look at the big league level. Oh what a difference a year makes...

I'm not convinced the current dog's breakfast of a roster isn't going to be at least average in offensive productivity.

Between Chas, Jake, Dezenzo, Dubon, Gammel, Yordan, Altuve, Leon, Melton, Whitcomb, and some of the non-roster guys, I'm confident they can piece together a lineup that is average to above average defensively and at least near average offensively.

Strasburg at least wanted to play. Rendon tolerates the game just to get paid.

Probably for the best. After seeing the disastrous Anthony Rendon and Kris Bryant contracts, offering Bregman a 6 year deal at his age would probably be bang-your-head-against-the-wall frustrating in the later years of that deal.

Utilize that money towards improving the outfield and bullpen and call it a day

Yeah I think we are already going to be overpaying Jose in a couple years. The problem is we don't have the depth of high quality bats on the farm to replace guys like we did 6 or 7 years ago. We will need to pay big dollar contracts, whether to retain our own guys or backfill in free agency.

$38.588MM.

That's what the Angles will pay Rendon to be injured this year. And it's what they will pay him again next year to go away.

The worst contract ever.

Oh, there's definitely been worse. It's not even July 1st yet.

Rendon just barely made the top 10 in this article.

My guess is Bregman really wants to be in Boston and they are really close on acquiring Arenado so he is finally giving up on a long term deal and going 2-3 with opt outs with Boston.
