It was. Tucker turned down the 200 million dollar offer, but I think we could have locked him up for 225 million. That would have been a bargain for a 5 tool player as young as he is/was.

Less than zero chance to lock him up for 225mill

Glad we traded him and got something for him unlike soringer and correa who walked away for nothing

To this day I don't understand why Click didn't trade Springer at the deadline in 2020. That would have been the perfect chance to restock the farm in the midst of the draft penalties

I guess because it was such a crapshoot shortened season and he got us 1 run away from another pennant

Could have traded Springer, Correa, Bregman, Tucker, and McCullers for Trout, Judge, and 75 draft picks.

Missed opportunity.

Literally nothing in that article suggests we could have locked him up for 200mm or even 225mm
It says he turned down the 200 million dollar extension. This is was 2 seasons ago before we got the better of him and he lost both arbitration hearings to the Astros. Plus the megadeals for Ohtani and Soto had not happened yet. Then the Astros tell him he has a bruised shin and it was broken. There was definitely a deal to be made back then. 225 million would have got it done.

There was not a deal to be made back then. He was never signing an extension with Houston.

Why is $225 million the magic number?
It seems impossible to know that unless you're extremely inside Kyle Tucker's inner circle.
Everything he said (and more importantly what he didn't say) indicates that he was not going to be an Astro any longer than he was contractually obligated to.

Why do we have two rookies with the same Houston 1836 clogging up the board?

The other poster appears to have made his ID shortly after my first post on 2-6-25.
The next day I noticed his ID was one character off of mine, so I decided to change mine to something else in order to differentiate.
I apologize if my posts are not in keeping with the tone of the board. If upon review, they are not what this thread is about, I can just be an observer instead of an active poster.

I'm pretty sure you're misinterpreting the injury situation. Teams don't tell players what injuries they have. Doctors, especially outside doctors do.

And frankly, I think Tucker was a malingerer with that injury and didn't remotely need to miss as much time as he did.
MaxPower

Yeah I can't help but think he was making business decisions with that injury in the middle of a pennant race and that didn't sit well with management.

The longer this Bregman thing drags out the more I think he's eventually going to sign with Houston. But what do I know.

1000%. We joke about him lollygagging but I'm convinced that's exactly how he treated rehab.

Nothing so far, but we're going to Wrigley to see the Rays and Cubbies when we head up to A&M @ Notre Dame.

I can't stand the Rangers. I've always loved the Houston teams. My great, great, great, grandfather founded Alvin, TX where Nolan Ryan is from. Many of my people are buried in the Confederate Memorial Cemetery there. Craig Biggio Coached my High School team. My great Grandfather graduated from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical in 1902. I'm not some transplant like some on this board.

If your great grandfather graduated A&M in 1902, that would put you around 55 to 65 years old. How did Biggio coach your HS baseball team during 2008 to 2013?

Lol…math wasn't adding up for me either. I'm 45 and my great grand father was born in 1900.

Honestly, I guess it is possible since everyone has kids at different ages. However, the older generations had them at much younger ages than we currently do. It is plausible, so I am not 100% doubting him.

My GFather on my mom's side was born in the late 1880s and was 45 or so when my mom was born. She was 35 when she had me. I haven't tracked the geneology for the generation before him, but assuming his dad was 30 when he was born would mean my GGfather would be 110 years older than me. No reason his timeline isn't plausible.

I know you're just trolling for a reason to say you live in Arizona.

But this does remind me of how funny this thread was when Bregman bought a house in Arizona and everyone said it was a foregone conclusion he was signing with the dbacks.
