You would think the only way he does that is if he has opt out after year 1. Even then, he'll be one year older and probably going to run into same exact problem.

I'd really like him to take our offer but part of me is scared that we offered the best deal for him…

At what point does the team say F-it?

If he comes back is he going to hold a grudge? Is he going to feel like the team doesn't really want him? I know he's lost a bunch of fans...

I think we'll be fine without his .250 BA, and 20 bombs and especially his 2+ months of hitting below .200.

If they want to make other moves like trying to trade for Nolan again, then they would have to know whether he was coming back or not. They aren't going to trade for Nolan then turn around and sign Alex.

I know that we aren't waiting on him, but I kinda wish we would either see additional moves made to the roster or Bregman suck it up and sign. We've had zero activity since trading Press and other squads are snagging up all the remaining pieces that are worth a damn, and it just feels like we are sitting around wondering what Alex is gonna do while everyone else is rounding out their roster

Not really. Alex Bregman is in no way impeding the Astros plans. The offer is there if he wants it and in the meantime it's business as usual.

Pulling the offer is just eliminating an option. It doesn't do any good for Houston.

Other moves aren't being made but it's not because of Bregman.

They were after Polanco but he was way expensive.

I'm not suggesting pulling the offer, but I don't love Altuve in LF... he barely has range to play a decent 2nd. And this Bregman purgatory is lame as hell.

I'd be nice to not have 1/2 our Starting Pitching in rehab, maybe we could have moved Framber and gotten a RFer and another Cam or 2...

Altuve is still fast. I think it'll translate better to running down balls in the OF vs quickness to have plus range in the INF.

Altuve to LF for Bregman is the new Bagwell as GM from the last couple years. No matter how many times you say it, it wont stick

Nothing if he doesn't work out. If he does we are still under the tax threshold.
